Is there such a thing as a "blacklist" of employees who've been fired?
When someone's been fired (not due to performance), and collects unemployment, is there such a thing as a "blacklist" potential employers consult before responding to resumes/applications? DFEH doesn't claim to know of such a listing, nor seem to be willing to investigate. I've read several articles on the internet that people suspect there is a blacklist.
Depending upon the size of the community and the industry in which the terminated employee worked, it could be a matter of everybody knowing about the situation. Word gets around. I don't believe there's an official "black list." When I used to work in the insurance claims industry, there were certain claims adjusters in our community that we knew by reputation and networked with others in varying organizations, so we knew if they came knocking on our door not to hire them because their reputations preceded them.
