What is the best web-hosting company?

Name one company on one line.

I'm going to violate your 'one line' rule. SORRY!

Best is relative. Depends on what you need.

It tends to fall in two categories: Linux and Windows.

You really only need Windows hosting if you plan to run ASP.NET or classic ASP web applications. Windows hosting tends to be more expensive, with less bang for your buck.

The only Windows hosting experience I've had was with GoDaddy's shared Windows hosting, and my experience was not positive.

As far as Linux hosting goes, I've always had good experiences with Bluehost. Also - Hostgator is well liked and I work with it quite a bit at work.

It really all depends on what kind of technology you're trying to run.

I agree with amsmoving, HostGator is one of the best Web Hosting companies out there. My vote goes to them.

I manage over 100 websites and I have been with HostGator for over a year now and I just signed my friend up and I used coupon code: HOST994HGH for him and saved him close to $10. I have been with at least 5 other companies in the last 10 years and HostGator is really one of the best.

@ankigarg87 that is the worst response one could ever hope for. Not only have I not heard of your company (yes, 'your' company), but I was looking for genuine sources ... that's why I came onto HubPages for g**'s sake! I mean, how desperate are you, friend?

I would definitely stay away from Go Daddy as a web host.

Host Gator, Blue Host and Lunarpages are probably the best.

HostGator without a doubt. They are good at what they do and they are cost effective at the same time.
