    Aside from running a standard background check, you can also run a check to see who has made a Social Security contribution for them. This will show you every job they've had (unless they were working "off the books").

    Ask for the previous work reports or samples one had created during employment, along with his or her authority signature on or command over the report or sample..

    Use critical judgment, call referees and ask them probing questions + all that the above people have said
