    What Exactly is an Entrepreneur?

Is an entrepreneur someone who just starts a business, or is it more than that?

An entrepreneur is just someone that starts a business. Any owner of an original business is an entrepreneur.

An entrepreneur is usually someone who is creative or thinks out of the box. They rather earn a profit than a paycheck. It's a "mindset". A trure entrepreneur will keep coming up with ideas until something works. Many for example like Walt Disney went bankrupt multiple times but never thought about seeking employment as a mail man or some other safe and secure profession. It was not in his DNA to go that route. In fact many of the very successful entrepreneurs either went broke or almost did go broke early on but the thought of working for someone else was not an option in their "mind".
They usually are risk takers and don't care for having a boss. They want to (control their own destiny). They don't always have to start a business they may offer up their skills as a "contractor", "consultant", "speaker", "actor" or "freelance writer". Ideally they want to work when they want to work. They hate the thought of punching a clock for 40 years.
Some entrepreneurs are inventors. They create something then license it for distribution or sell it to a company for profits. There are some very succesful entrepreneurs who become venture capitalists that invest in up and coming companies to reap financial gain when the company becomes successful.
Entrepreneurs create jobs for others, find ways to solve problems for the masses, or they find ways to connect us, inform us, entertain us, or improve our lives in some way. In my opinion they are among the last of what we call American heroes. I can't imagine a world without entrepreneurs.
