What is a free and efficient way to keep track of inventory?
My home-based business just went from sole-proprietorship to an LLC. But now that I have merchandise, I find keeping track in a Word document can eventually become crazy. I keep track of expenses in Excel, but I am not sure how it would work for inventory. Any ideas to make my life less complicated?
try using google documents..... however, I am not sure what type of business you have, but it is always better to store all your documents online instead offline. Try using Google docs, bropbox or others to stay safe.
If you have a type of spreadsheet program on your computer such as Microsoft Excel or even Open Office Base or Open Office Math (Open Office is free through Oracle/Sun Systems and Java), you can put in your inventory and calculate it that way. Or, as msabihj said, you can try using Google Documents. Good luck!
Use the software programs that come with your computer. Microsoft works has great spreadsheets and databases that can be linked. And the best part is that it's all free!!

I own a C corporation and paid myself a salary. Am I supposed to issue myself a W2? I did not for 2009 and was wondering how I report the income on my 1040. I am using TaxAct and they have business income from sole proprietorship, partnership and S corp, but I don't see C Corp.
