How do I promote myself as an affiliate marketer?

I am trying to get into affiliate marketing, adding to my blog and using Squidoo. Obviously some places don't like affiliate links on their sites, but what else can I do to get traffic and sales? I comment on blogs leaving a link to mine. I need to be a stay at home parent and earning a little money will enable me to be flexible - any ideas from those in the know?

Affiliate marketing is notoriously difficult to succeed in as there is so much competition. Most of the people that succeed seem to have their own websites dedicated to a particular niche. I would say concentrate on particular niches that you know stuff about and build in your own personal experiences so that people trust to buy from you.

I have a wedding blog all about my own experiences and it includes tips for other brides to be. I read other wedding blogs, keeping it relevant. I guess it's a big market.

I'm getting into Affiliate Marketing as well!  I agree with Azure11 about creating a website and focusing on a niche.  You can do this for free or at least inexpensively.  Another thing that's very important is link building and creating a network to point to your landing page.

I wrote a blog post about link building recently.  Feel free to check it out: … nk-empire/

I will be following this question as I want to have more success with it as well!  Thanks.  smile

Put a link to your site in your personal profile pages.

Join some wedding forums and contribute. Put a link to your site in your forum signature.

Create a weekly wedding newsletter. Then create a Facebook fan page and put an opt in sign up/subscribe form for your newsletter in it.
