    Have you ever had a job that hurt your soul?

    Have you ever had a job that changed you in a negative way? Or, have a job that was so reprehensible that you felt that you were betraying yourself or your soul? What was the job and what happened? What would be your advice to someone in this situation?

    Yes, telemarketing. While, I have a talent for persuasion it felt like coercion. With each and every rebuttal, I felt like I was a slick bully. The pay was deceit for a college student. I got incentives for being a top salesperson, but I felt aweful, because I felt they really didn't need what I was offering. In telemarketing no, is just the need for a stronger rebuttal. In that situation you would suggest that you stay true to you. I left that job upon graduation. Also with staying true to yourself, you have to logically assess your current situation. Can you afford to leave would be simply stated, however if it is hurting your soul, I would say no job is worth that amount of pain. Note. Always plan for the unexpected.

      I used to train people on how to cold call, as well as do it myself, and I made good money doing it. I still have people wanting to hire me to do it, but I would rather do almost anything than cold call another person in my life.

      I will agree with you 100%, I did it really well too, but it wasn't for me.
