How close to closing time is is appropriate to walk into a business?
I used to work in retail, and let me tell you... I got PISSED at customers that came in 2 minutes before the store closed, and insisted on big orders being carried out. Nothing bothered me more than staying well past the end of my shift to help these people.
I am now sensitive to this, and won't enter a restaurant after a certain time, and won't enter a store after a certain time, depending on what I need and how long I think I would be there.
I am curious as to what other people think is okay regarding this? Do you have any rules or regulations regarding entering soon-to-close businesses?
Hi Kathleen Kat,
Let me tell you, I've done work in the hospitality business as well as a stint as a waitress. There is nothing more annoying than people who come in minutes before closing and then want to order well done steaks and full course dinners. I will not go into a restaurant or store if it is within 30 minutes of closing unless I know I'm going to be quick. Example: if I am only getting a drink and a cold sandwich or for a store, I need one quick item.
