I think the biggest mistake many people make is that they do not answer the question. It is really very simple....just answer the question, nothing more, nothing less. If you answer specifically what you are asked and that is not sufficient, the interviewer can question you further for more information. I find this to be an irritating habit of many people and not just during interviews. I often ask questions that require simply a yes or a no, and instead I get a 5-10 minute discourse that somewhat rambles around the question that was asked.

The most common mistake, in my experience, is that applicants are not prepared for the interview. They do not take the time to research the position they are applying for or the company the are applying to. It makes answering some of the questions you will be asked easier if you are prepared. Don't be a lazy job hunter....do your homework before the interview!!

One of the most common mistakes I have seen from job applicants is not being prepared for the interview. They have not done their research and do not know as much as they should about the company they are trying to join. A candidate once asked me, "What do you guys make anyway?" He was NOT hired!
