Why do so many people have a disinterest in or actively hate their jobs, anticipating retirement?
An overwhelming majority of people do not like their jobs. In fact, they go through the motions and meander through their jobs, doing time until their retirement. Only a small fraction of people are actually passionate about their jobs/careers. They are actively engaged in their jobs, anticipating Mondays and view their jobs/careers as play. Sadly, such people are in the minority.
This condition usually results for two reasons. The person planning retirement has been passed over for promotions, had responsibilities taken away or is basically being ignored.
The second reason is that the person, after years of service gets a new boss who does not want to hear anything that occurred in the past, even though we all learn from or failures and successes.
When either of these conditions exist, the person will start anticipating retirement and often will now be doing your best. However, it is difficult to do your best when you get no positive feedback or recognition from your superiors at least once in a while.

In these days of historically low interest rates home owners, who by definition are not the poorest, are doing very nicely. Those who are in wellpaid jobs are on the whole quite well off in absolute terms, and compared with before the crash. The jobs government are cutting are largely low paid jobs...

Why do so many people want to blame drug dealers and not drug addicts?I ask this question because of something I saw yesterday. I saw a police officer taking away a 6 year old child for dealing drugs (obviously not a prison...6 year old kid after all). And I thought to myself, his circumstances put...
