Do people really make astronomical amounts of money online (as depicted in their webpages)?
No, it is all just a con.
This is not what you wanted to hear, I'm sure, but the vast majority of those types of claims are lies.
It is not a con, most don't make loads, a few do.
Technically it is not something you can say impossible
You need to get into some kind of niche .. Seek out the problems of people there in that niche make blogs about it .. products .... build email list,
You know what they say in IM that if you got 50k people on email list who are loyal and are convinced by your whole method..
In other words they are kind of fan of yours..
So even if you sell them product "How to wear underwear's" for $10 you could be cashing in ten's of thousands of Dollars ..
It is all about building trust .. Growing your audience ..
Websites and blogs frankly speaking won't make you fortune, .. That's once in a blue moon .. Totally depends upon idea which can get viral through web surfers
I think ddlax answered it well. Yes you can but you need lots of subscribers/followers/visitors/people who have opted in to your email lists.
Here on hubpages you make a few dollars per thousand views of your hubs, I saw one member who had over 1 million views so i guess she makes some decent money.
I think most of the money you make is from internet marketing (IM) which is usually promoting clickbank products, if you have built up thousands of followers/readers you can promote these products and make astronomical amounts.
As a general rule only about 2% of internet marketers make alot of money and most of them won't tell you how they do it for obvious reasons even though they will try and sell you something which promises to which they make money from!
From what I have read the quick way to do it is to use paid for advertising to promote clickbank products but it is a real art to actually do it well.
I see you don't have any featured hubs yet, just start making high quality hubs and the followers and money will come!
good luck!
Depends on what you mean by astronomical.
If they claim four figures, then take a look at their posts, their blogs, their websites. Do they strike you as professional, fascinating, useful, and the sort of thing you could imagine lots of people visiting, even if it's only to get info on a particular product? Then maybe the answer is yes.
Or look at the time span that they've been posting online. Five plus years? It's quite possible within that amount of time to build up enough individual posts, pages and income streams to be making three digits a month -- say, $300 -- although again, if they're claiming over $1000 a month, take a good look at what they're creating and ask yourself whether it appears to be a good enough caliber to be pulling in real traffic or driving a fair number of sales.
It is possible. It's just very rare. As you shrewdly guess, there are many more people claiming success than succeeding.
Thank you for your answer. it seems to me that you concentrate on blogs and generally internet marketing. what other forums are there online to make money from?
I use:
- Squidoo (currently having traffic & filter issues, so I'm hesitant to recommend, but I've made most of my $ there)
- Wizzley
- Zujava
I also get some $ through Adsense on blogs and YouTube, and sell drawings and photos on Zazzle/Cafepre
