How will small businesses be impacted with the new Obama Care (Healthcare Reform Act)?
Is the Healthcare Reform Act (ObamaCare) going to effect small business owners that do not have any employees?
First, you have to define small. I think, not positive, that the mandate to provide group policy is to have 50 employees are more.
If a small business has fewer employees, the impact will be indirect. Those without insurance may want raises to cover the cost. Those with the policies that do not cover the essential elements may be looking at higher premiums and the hope of a pay raise.
Small businesses should look at group policies. They are often available through trade and business associations. Reasonable salaries, good benefits and realistic expectations will keep good workers.
I worked for one newspaper for 13 years. We had less than 50 employees. We had health and life insurance. The owner was not a tyrant. Other business should follow that model.
