Do you use any online advertising tools?
I run a small business that has just recently started to make enough money that we can afford online advertising. I don't know where to start though. My first thought is Google, but I am sure it is expensive and honestly it confuses me, so I wanted to see if anyone else has used any tools to advertise a business or service online.
Hi Kathleen,
I run online advertising campaigns and there are many options including mobile, video and the list continues.
I am actually an internet strategist.
I would be glad to assist you. Please schedule a consultation...

Hi Kathleen! I've used Google AdWords. I did do a hub on Internet advertising if you want to check that out for some basic info.
Be careful with AdWords. In theory, it sounds like a reasonably priced option. But some keywords can be VERY expensive. So it really pays to narrow your choices to those that are the most relevant. You also want to set a daily budget that you can afford.
Be very clear about what you want to achieve and be realistic with your expectations. Even good clickthrough rates can be in the low single digit return percentages. And remember that not all those clickthroughs will actually buy.
It will take some experimentation. And for heaven's sake, PLEASE make sure you have Google Analytics installed on your site and can monitor traffic. There are some sales conversion tools in AdWords to consider if you have a relatively simple sales process. (I've not been able to use those tools due to a complex ecommerce engine I use. So I can't tell you from personal experience if it's worthwhile.)
Glad to hear your small business is growing! Good luck with your online marketing adventures!
Thank you so much Heidi for your in-depth answer! It has definitely provided me with necessary info I would need if I were to go ahead with Google. Thank you for taking the time to answer!
I work as an internet marketer with a focus on SEO and I can say that it depends a lot on your niche, business, budget, plans etc etc... For some sites google adwords will work great, for other it will be costly but not effective. Some people get a lot from facebook but another just waste money.
If you are there to stay then SEO is maybe option for you but in that case you need to know that you can't expect sales over night but when rankings come then you will rule the world without big investments
What should always work, if you have time, is to work actively on your website with fresh content, be active on social media and by time you will get a lot of traffic. Also, if you want it instantly why don't you do couple of tests. Spend $100 on google adwords, $100 on FB and see how it is going
Anyway, you can send me your url so I can give you couple of suggestions.
So agree about SEO/internet success depending on niche and a variety of other factors! Some of my markets respond favorably to it; for others it's wasted effort. Also agree about fresh content being important.
Interesting content. I found Hubpages when searching for ways to improve SEO for my website: www.518-838.com So far the experience has been informative.

Can we put our Hubs on PAID ads on FB, etc? Yes, I do realize the cost of the ads is more than the how much we get per click. I'm sure I sound crazy. But, seriously, is that allowed?
