I don't know if this would count. I was working on staff when my director left her job, and I became the acting director (but nobody called it that). I noticed after a few days that there was no rush to get a new director. I also noticed that I was doing the director job. I went to the head guy of the business and respectfully brought it to his attention, and asked that I be rewarded monetarily for the position I temporarily filled. He protested, stating that often people in my position "hung in there", and so on, "for the team". I explained I didn't have that luxury, as I was engaged to be married and my wedding would cost real money, and that I would need renumeration. I received it.
