#Sears will soon close its last #store in Chicago. Why #retailers are closing their #physical #stores? https://gossip.software/2018/07/15/why- … ng-stores/
Yes. They are losing money because customers wanted to shop online.
Or because their prices too high. Prices follow costs: perhaps labor costs have risen, perhaps the facility requires too much maintenance, perhaps the operating costs of the building are excessive.
Maybe the local taxes are too high to make a reasonable profit, maybe their parking lot is too small for the number of customers they need, or the roads have deteriorated until no one wants to drive them. Perhaps local competition is killing them, perhaps the area is turning into a slum, perhaps crime has increased too far.
There are a lot of reasons beyond "customers wanted to shop online" - lots of people are happier being able to see and/or handle products before buying.
People are shopping online. Online shopping has caused physical stores to go out of business. Why go to physical store when you can shop online.
