Yes, you read the title correctly, this is, indeed, the eighth installment of this series. I have so many people to thank and at a rate of one of these articles per week I just might say thank you to everyone by the end of 2012….or not!

Do you want to know what I like most about HubPages? Sure it’s a great venue to post articles and work on your skills but for me the best part of HubPages is the opportunity to meet so many wonderful writers, many of whom have become online friends. The relationships I have formed over the past few months have been a source of support and joy for me. I have received positive comments the like of which embarrass and humble me and I have had the opportunity to watch some gifted people perfect their craft and grow before my eyes. It has been a remarkable experience for this man and I plan on sticking around for quite some time because, well, this is home.

Let’s not dawdle any longer; it’s time for my weekly salute to some truly talented writers who just happen to be my friends. If you are just starting out I highly recommend this group and the groups that I have written about earlier; they are supportive and upbeat and they form a wonderful foundation for many writers in this community.

I’VE GOT IT MADE IN THE SHADE

I have no idea what that stupid title has to do with anything but it sounded clever and had this Hubbers name in it, so there you go. I present to you Made, a delightful lady from Finland who I enjoy completely. For just a glimpse at the talent she has read http://made.hubpages.com/hub/today-is-the-first-day.

One of the great things about HubPages is the chance we have to make friends around the world and I am proud to call this insightful and inspirational writer my friend. From a cold country comes a very warm heart. Thank you, Made!

LIVING THE RUSTIC LIFESTYLE

Very early on in my journey here this lady’s name popped up in the comment section and I loved her screen name. It spoke to me of a simpler time and a simpler life I’m trying to embrace. For a sample of Rusticliving’s fine work check out http://rusticliving.hubpages.com/hub/72-HR-Emergency-Kit-Fuel-Light. She also has some great hubs on the flowers in her garden and redecorating. I’m thinking if we ever had a national emergency this is the lady I’d want in the bunker with me as she seems to know quite a bit about a variety of subjects.

All I know for sure is that she has been supportive and patient with this newbie and for that I am grateful.

BRAINS BY THE BOATLOAD

Well, this next lady has a PhD so we already know she is smarter than I am, but what you may not know is that Kelley is a truly nice person who is incredibly upbeat and personable.

I like positive people! I think they bring a little something extra into our lives each day and Kelley has added happiness to my life since I have known her. I think we both started about the same time on this site and it’s a pleasure to follow along on her path.

I KNOW HER REAL NAME BUT TO YOU SHE IS JAMAGENEE

If I were forced to pick two words that would describe my next friend they would be wit and intelligence. She has a biting and clever sense of humor as evidenced in her hub http://jamagenee.hubpages.com/hub/Why-I-Rent--Not-Own and as an amateur dabbler in family trees she can find her way around the genealogical sites with the best of them.

However, why I like her is because she gives insightful comments each and every time. Some people leave a quick…”nice hub” comment and then they are gone. JamaGenee leaves a comment that tells you she has read your hub, understood your hub, was interested in your hub and has some interesting things to add to your hub. I find that refreshing and I am appreciative that she makes that effort every time she visits my site.

A SPARKLE IN MY LIFE

Her name is Sparklea and the first four words of her profile say, “I am a writer.” I like that and I totally agree! She is also a person who has known pain and anguish, as evidenced by her hub http://sparklea.hubpages.com/hub/sparklea-hubpages-the-greatest-pain-and-the-greatest-peace and has found through it all the ability to embrace life and be happy.

I respect this person as the embodiment of humanness. She shines, she sparkles and she is my very good online friend and you know what? I’m proud of that!

A NEW SLANT ON MATTERS

She goes by Sharyn’s Slant on HubPages and I can tell you that this is one very funny lady who I think would be a riot if we could ever sit down and chat for awhile. Until then I’ll have to be satisfied reading her excellent hubs like http://sharynsslant.hubpages.com/hub/There-Comes-a-DEEPER-UNDERSTANDING.

This is a writer who has the ability to cross over between genres, from humor to instructional to serious introspection and she does it all with ease and talent. If you are a newbie and you have one person to follow to begin your journey this might be the one you should pick. She knows her way around this site and is more than willing to help a newcomer.

LOYAL AND NOT TO A FAULT

I got to know PurvisBobbi44 through her comments on HubPages but then I really started to realize her true character through Facebook. This lady is loyal! She will tell you in her profile that she does not like to talk about herself, that she would rather listen and learn about others. How refreshing is that?

But let’s learn a little about Bobbi; check out http://purvisbobbi44.hubpages.com/hub/My-Dream-Lovers-Nightly-Spring-Time-Visits if you want to feel the heat of passion through the written word. This lady has talent with a capital T and I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate her kind words on HubPages and on Facebook.

LET’S TRAVEL IN TIME

Get it? Time Travel? Fine, I’ll just tell you that my next guest is called TimeTraveler2 on HubPages. I will also tell you that as long as she keeps writing I will keep following her. Do you want to talk about interesting? This lady is a retired school teacher, was once a cross country truck driver and also an antiques dealer. Sheez, talk about well-rounded.

She also enjoys time in her RV as she points out in http://timetraveler2.hubpages.com/hub/Living-Full-Time-In-An-Rv. Any old time you need some information on RV living she is the Hubber to visit. Besides, she is just good people!

A THOUGHTFUL FORCE

I’m too clever for my own good! Okay, her name is Thougtforce but I know her as Tina and she hails from Sweden. Read http://thougtforce.hubpages.com/hub/Join-the-new-kindness-trend-be-kind-You-will-be-happier-if-you-are-nice and you will get a pretty good idea of why I like this lady! She is a positive thinker and a positive doer and that means positive results in life.

She has a Master’s Degree in Earth Science and believes in constantly changing without regretting the past and that says a great deal about this wonderful gift from Sweden.

HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU!

Until we meet again! That’s all the time I have for this round but never fear, I have quite a few people to thank and Good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise I’ll be around to give thanks again next week.

One word of advice for any newcomers out there: reach out and become a part of this community! HubPages is not about one person but rather about thousands of people sharing, commenting and becoming a supportive, safe haven for like-minded people. If all you are about is sharing your work and collecting followers you will find it is, in fact, hard to collect followers. I have found that the more time and effort I put into supporting other writers on this site the more time and effort they put into supporting me and that is as it should be.

Write meaningful comments when you read the work of another. Share the works of others on other sites and on your hubs. Make an effort and others will gravitate to you very quickly; don’t make the effort and you might as well be writing a personal journal for your eyes only.

Thanks….sincerely….thanks to all of you who have been so kind to me. You make my heart soar each and every day that I sit down at the computer and that is a gift that keeps on giving.
