Hubbers Who Have Been My Support System: Installment Eighteen

It is once again time to say thank you to some special people in my life. The one thing I know for sure about HubPages is that there are some wonderful people on this site who are incredibly faithful. For the benefit of the newcomers, I will tell you that I was a newcomer eight months ago. I was nervous and unsure of my abilities, and I doubted seriously if HubPages was the place for me. Why would anyone read that stuff I write? Why would anyone even be interested enough to comment?

I have gone back and read some of my earliest stuff and quite frankly it is junk. I guess I could fix it up so it reads better, but I like to keep those first couple Hubs around as a reminder of how far I have come. The other reason I enjoy looking at those dogs is because there are several people who, despite the poor quality of the writing, took the time to encourage me and make me feel like I belonged on this forum. I see those early comments and I think “that’s why I love HubPages.”

This is a community of writers who support each other. I’m sure there are those who just write on this site to make money, but man oh man, that is a slow “get rich” scheme. For me, I’m in it for the long run, and I feel a responsibility to reach out to others so they know that they belong. I like the “paying it forward” tradition, and today I’d like to pay it forward to some Hubbers who have been supportive of me. Maybe, if you get the chance, you will take the time to visit their sites and make them feel welcomed and appreciated.

Wendy is her real name and she is a smiling bundle of energy who loves being a mother. She is also relatively new to HubPages but she has made herself an active member very quickly.

I guess what I love about Wendy the most is her positive attitude and her eclectic writing style. She is loyal, intelligent, and personable. That’s the trifecta in my book!

From Naples, Florida, comes our next guest, Suzette by name, and she is a joy! Suzette is a retired school teacher who put in her time for decades, and now soaks up the sun in Florida, but continues to teach through her Hubs.

I saw this hub http://suzettenaples.hubpages.com/hub/Faeries-Brownies-and-other-nymphs and thought she was going to give a recipe about brownies! Nope, she was teaching again, and like all of her Hubs it was fascinating. Stop by and see her and tell her Bill sent you.

Have you ever met someone and instantly felt a kinship to them? Well, that’s how I felt when I first met Carly about a month ago. There was something so genuine, open and honest about her, that I wanted to know her not only as a fellow Hubber but as a friend.

I can’t categorize her Hubs; she is all over the board, covering a wide range of topics, and every single one of her Hubs is terrifically done. She and I started just about the same time and I have come to respect her greatly.

On HubPages she is known as Midget, but to her friends she is Michelle, and I can tell you this with complete sincerity: she is about as faithful a follower as anyone could ever hope to have. I am not making this up: I usually post my Hubs at 7:00 a.m. each day….by 7:05 a.m. Michelle has read and written a comment. I could set my watch by her time, if I wore a watch. J

Seriously, she just showed up one day on my doorstep and started commenting on my Hubs. Then she came in for a glass of milk and a short visit. Pretty soon we were friends who support each other on every Hub.

I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know this Hubbers name. I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know where she lives. I do know that she is a counselor and a mother and that she has been on HubPages for two years and has close to 1,000 followers. I think that says quite a bit about her right there.

I am a lucky man! I love what I’m doing and I love my friends on HubPages. I really think we should have a HubPages convention on the West Coast. We could have it at Stephanie’s house in Bend, or Candie’s house on the Peninsula. I’ll name a date and we’ll all just show up at their house with drinks and food. Wouldn’t they just love that?
