Hubbers Who Have Been My Support System: Installment Fourteen

Updated on October 13, 2012

A very satisfied Hubber | Source
My thank you present to all of you!
My thank you present to all of you! | Source

I need to apologize to all of you. I nearly forgot about this series of Hubs because I was so busy concentrating on another series that I just started. Not a very good excuse but it’s the only one I have. When you reach my ripe old age (isn’t that an ugly term) you might understand.

This is installment fourteen of this series in which I attempt, in some small way, to give back to those who have been so kind as to support me since I came to HubPages. In no way can I highlight everyone who has supported me. To do that I would need to do one of these Hubs daily, and although some believe I am a prolific writer, I’m just not that prolific. Besides, Bev demands some of my time to actually, you know, visit with her. She’s fairly insistent on that point and I learned long ago not to argue with my love. Get her mad and she may slip some Niacin in my food and then laugh while my blood boils.

So here we go! To those I have not mentioned yet, please be patient. I know you are out there. Heck, in a very real sense, you are the reasons why I write. I love the human connections that I make on HubPages. You are my window to the world. You are my kindred spirits who understand that which drives me to do what I do daily. You are…..my friends!

GRANDMOTHER OF EIGHT AND A NICE PERSON

How’s that for a resume? Take a walk with sgbrown and see what she is all about; you can start your walk at http://sgbrown.hubpages.com/hub/Taking-a-Walk-in-the-Country and get to know her a little bit better.

What I know about her can be summed up this way: she is loyal, she is funny, she is intelligent and she is a good writer. Her resume just keeps getting better. She is not one of those Hubbers who just skims over your work and then doesn’t comment. She actually takes the time to read and then leave a meaningful comment. That is rare on this site!

MORE THAN A VOCAL COACH

Audrey is her name and she is so much more than vocalcoach on HubPages. To many Hubbers she is a rock-solid support system, a person who always has a kind word, a strong supporter of newcomers and simply a quality human being.

The first sentence in her profile says she loves being of service to others, that she feels that is why she was born. Do you need to know anything more about this fine lady? Oh, did I mention she is an extremely good writer? Go to http://vocalcoach.hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Pay-It-Forward-With-One-Kind-Act-At-A-Time and find out for yourself why Audrey is one of the most respected authors on this site.

ROBERTA BE HER NAME

As is sometimes the case, there are Hubbers who fall through my personal cracks, people who have been with me for quite some time, but who, for whatever reason, get left behind in this series. Robie2 is one of those people and I feel bad about it.

I have found Roberta to be insightful, intelligent and in possession of a great sense of humor. Listen ,as a way of helping me make it up to her, would you please read one of her Hubs and tell her billybuc sent you. Go see http://robie2.hubpages.com/hub/A-Childhood-in-the-Military-or-What-Makes-Military-Brats-Different and then click on all the buttons you can find. She really does deserve the support of everyone out there.

GOD BLESS THE IRISH

Now it is time to turn our attention to four relatively new Hubbers, or at the very least new to my site. The first is Beckie, or shiningirisheyes to those of you on HubPages. There are certain people who come into our lives and it’s as if we have known them for decades. There is an instant bond that is formed. It may be similarities from the past, or commonalities in writing style, or whatever. The fact is that almost right out of the gate you like them, they like you, and a friendship is formed. Rather remarkable considering you never meet that person face to face.

One such person in my life is Beckie. She writes poetry, fiction, reflective pieces, and every single one of them is stamped with her beautiful persona. Life has not always been kind to this young lady but she exudes a positive attitude and I will be her loyal follower forever and a day. Visit her at http://shiningirisheyes.hubpages.com/hub/fathersdaypoemfromadaughter and see if you don’t agree with my assessment.

GEORGIE LOWERY IS OUR NEXT GUEST

Georgie writes about rock groups I have never heard of; she is not even remotely in my neighborhood with regards to age. In fact, I’m not sure what we have in common, but I sure do like her. She has been effusive in her praise and gratitude for my following her; little does she know that I find quality people very easy to follow.

Here is a great list of songs from another era that she has put together. My favorite part of this hub is right at the beginning when she speaks of her daddy! Ya gotta love this young lady! http://georgielowery.hubpages.com/hub/Top-Ten-Songs-I-Grew-Up-Listening-To. Please stop by and give her a follow. She will restore your faith in the youth of our country!

JULIE DENEEN

Julie is funny! Julie is brutally honest! Julie is straightforward and she also has a great laugh. Check out the home video at http://juliedeneen.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Annoy-Your-Husband and tell me she doesn’t have a great laugh and a wonderful family.

I recently lost track of three of Julie’s recent Hubs. That didn’t stop her from reading my latest. That’s loyalty, folks! It didn’t faze her that I hadn’t been by in a few days. She wasn’t keeping score. She was simply following someone who she is faithful to on HubPages. I think that says quite a bit about her, don’t you?

I LOVE THIS WOMAN’S NAME

And what is that name you ask? Trinity M. is this Hubbers name and I’m being completely serious when I tell you that this is one of the nicest people I have met in the seven months I’ve been on HubPages. Her comments are so honest, so heartwarming and so supportive, that she has me twisted around her little finger.

She only has 58 followers as of this writing and I think that’s ridiculous. First thing I noticed about Trinity when I read her first hub was that she actually understands grammar in the English language. Second thing I noticed is that she has a good writer’s voice. Third, and most importantly, I noticed that she is not phony at all, that she genuinely cares about people.

Check her out at http://trinitym.hubpages.com/hub/laughing-and-health and find out what I have known for about a month now. Trinity is a keeper!

NUMBER FIFTEEN IS IN THE MAKING

Of course I have left people out, but it was never intentional. I will highlight every single one of the people who follow me loyally; you just have to be patient until I get around to you. Why do I do it? Because to me writing is all about the human connection. I write to reach out and touch my readers, and I read the works of others for the same reason. We live in a society that is becoming more and more isolated and quite frankly I hate that. I want my readers to know me as a person; in turn, I want to know them.

This series is my way of saying thank you for allowing me into your lives and for giving me a glimpse at yours. It means the world to me and you are all, each and every one of you, special to me. Until next time, may the road rise up to meet you and may the wind always be at your back along your journey.

Thank you Gypsy! When I was young I would never sit in front of a camera; just the thought would elicit cold sweats. The years of teaching have made it much easier. I'm glad you like the videos and I appreciate you greatly.

Mike, it is somewhat an abundance of riches that can almost be too much. I have to limit myself now to reading 20-25 hubs a day; add to that the comments I answer on my hubs and then it's time to work for a living. My customers could care less what online responsibilities I have. I feel bad that I can't read more hubs of people who follow me but man, there are only so many hours in a day.

So we do what we can do and hope people will understand. I do know that I greatly appreciate you and the fine work you do on HubPages; more importantly, though, I appreciate the kind of man you are. I only hang with quality people and you, my friend, are quality through and through.

Peace and blessings to you and yours, Mike.

Nicely done Bill, all of these folks seem like some pretty awesome people, and I'll give them a try in due time.

Your right, It definitely is tough getting around to so many folks, while managing everything else on all of our networks simultaneously, and so with that said I had to change things around a bit myself lately as you've noticed I'm sure, and I just had to set up for myself a sort of hubpages networking schedule, a facebook schedule, and so many more organized methods of managing it all today, to keep it all in perspective.

This has been an evolution of sorts for me, and you have experienced with me much of this change as well, as we both been keeping up with one another here on hubpages.

I love how you fully express yourself about who you really want people to see that you are as a person, and that means a great deal. I know your a great person, a kind gentle person, and a caring one for all those you can possible effectively reach, so I guess this hub definitively will open the eyes of those who haven't yet had the privilege of meeting you for sure, either here on hubpages or any other network you choose to make your presence known.

Thanks for this cool installment and I'll be looking out for #15.

No, I'm not giving up on the health foods! That's my message to you! Eat right and you don't have to take pills to supplement what Mother Nature has to offer. Although I do like the occasional Big Mac!

10 hours, huh? Ok. I can do that. Given what time I have to get up for work, shower, drive to and fro, give them 8 hours of my time, I can do that. The bennie is, I don't have to get dressed up. Or dressed at all, for that matter! My cats have seen me naked many times! I know, TMI. Again!

No, my friend. It's because you have so much on your plate! Except vegetables, and thank God no longer niacin supplements! (while you're googling, look up whole foods that offer niacin. Supplements of any kind can be eradicated if you eat right!)

I was wondering what happened to this series! You usually post it on Thursdays, that is until you got into the sick, nasty vacation series! haha - kidding!

I agree with you. I know and follow many of whom you tout. Those I don't I check out. (I'm a poet and don't I know it!) I've found many worthy people to follow based on this series. I respect your intuition totally, especially since you wrote a hub on not following people just because they follow you. So when you make mention of a fellow hubber, I check them out.

You do a wonderful thing with this series, my friend!

This is why I write, Beckie; I have a hub coming out tomorrow about this very point....the connections we make with our writing....the way we can touch another person's heart using our words. It is a miracle, this thing called life, and I am rich beyond my wildest dreams because I have met people like you.

Give mom a huge hug for me and would you also do this.....thank her, for me, for having such a wonderful daughter.

Audrey, unfortunately, you were one of the Hubbers who should have been mentioned very early on, but I simply am not as sharp as I once was. I need to have lists all over my office to remember stuff....sigh! I am so glad I finally figured out the error of my ways and got you the attention you deserve. You are a kind and caring human being and I'm honored to be your friend.

Thank you Billy. There are so many hubs to read here, and I appreciate a guide map to find some more of the gems among the gold. The one gem that sparkles the most up there for me is my super-heroine-dynamic-dual-buddy Julie DeNeen. "Wonder Twin Powers.... Activate!" We activate and spark so much within each other. Follow her for sure and your life will be full of glitter.

I am not stating this to be referred in a negative way. I am crying. You are such a perseptive friend. Yesterday I took some terrible hits to my self-esteem. So bad I spent the evening questioning my self. You just have no idea what this means to me. I brought Mom into the den to read it. She and I talk of you often and last night, as I was questioning some of my abilities she mentioned you. Using you as an example she stated I should remember your advice, wisdom and encouragement when I am in this quandry. She just made me print this out and she is hanging it on the fridge as we speak.

There is no monetary value in the world that made a better difference than this uplifting write.

I also must say I am equally in agreement as to the company I humbly share here at hub pages. Such wonderful and talented people with good intentions and fine souls.

I send so much love and admiration.

Mom and I both send our sincerest of thank you's. I believe you may have a touch of ESP my dear friend.

Bill - You are such a sweetheart of a man - always standing at the helm of hubpages and ready to guide, support and even protect your hubpage family. You take new hubbers under your giant wing and introduce them to the family and lead them in the right direction.

I am so honored to be highlited in this hub of love and I thank you for your generosity. I enjoyed your video as I do each one and I always take away an important and inspiring message.

I look forward to meeting other hubbers you have introduced in this hub. I'm in your corner billy!

What a lovely way to show your friends you appreciate them! I'll check out all the people you've recommended, but I can't promise I'll follow them all. If I like what I read, instead of giving praise to anyone here, I'll leave a trace on their hubs :)

sniff sniff- Thank you Billybuc- I am grinning (and laughing) to myself here in the dining room reading your hub. It's easy to get behind on hubs when you follow so many people. Lord knows I do it (and why you are right- I will never keep score) and I am amazed at those hubbers who can not only comment regularly, but respond to each and every comment that is made! It's incredible. You are a hubbing rockstar Billy and you continue to use your wild popularity to promote other writers- it is a great example of that humility you talked about in an earlier hub. I have NO doubts you will win a hubbie award. You are like everyone's grandpa around here! :) Voting up of course! xo
