Hubbers Who Have Been My Support System: Installment Nineteen

Updated on April 8, 2014
Thank you!
Thank you! | Source

Really? Installment Nineteen?

Yes indeed, installment nineteen has arrived. Better late than never I always say…..well, I don’t always say that, but it sounds good for this situation. I have simply been busy kicking out hubs and some things slipped my mind. Advanced age will do that to you sometimes.

In this case I got busy and forgot to say thank you once again to the incredible people who keep my writing dream afloat. I can’t speak for all of you out there; I can only tell you how I feel about this incredible writing community called HubPages. My experience has been unbelievable and I have no doubt it will continue.

Perhaps I should explain why it has been incredible. When I started out on HP I had no confidence in my writing ability. I enjoyed writing, but I had been avoiding joining a writing community mainly because I did not want to get torn to shreds by “real writers.” I just knew that once they saw my junk they would tear me a new one and send me on my way.

It turns out I could not have been more wrong. What I found was a group of giving people who supported me from the very beginning, and gave me nothing but encouragement. That was nine months ago, and I gotta tell you, my first few hubs were horrible. I have no idea why anyone read them, let alone took the time to comment and encourage. They did, however, do just that, and eventually my writing became better and my confidence grew, all because of a handful of unselfish and supportive writers who decided I was worth following.

So now it’s my turn to give back, and for eighteen installments I have been supporting those who have supported me. For me, HubPages is not a competition. There are those who treat it as one, but it certainly is not for me. I am a writer, you are a writer, and writers should support each other. Period!

And so here is my latest installment of support! I hope some of you will reach out to these fine writers and give them some Hub Love.

Down on the Farm

Rachel is a 24-year old bundle of energy who firmly believes in a self-sustaining lifestyle and who subscribes to my Living Simple approach to life. How could I not like her?

Would you like to learn about raising chickens? Sure you would, and everything you need to know can be found here http://farmerrachel.hubpages.com/_2kxahfxxz113e/hub/Raising-Chickens-for-Eggs-or-Meat-Basic-Guide .

Why do I like Rachel? I guess because she understands the value of hard work, and she appreciates the simple things in life…..and because she supports me of course. J

Sasha Is Her Name

And what a sweetheart she is, as well as a devoted wife, mother and very good writer. Her Hub name is Mama Kim; don’t ask because I don’t know what it refers to. All I know is I like her. She is one of those people you instantly like, and I invite you to take a look at her profile at http://mamakim8.hubpages.com/. She tells us on her profile that her wonderful husband and her kids mean the world to her. Do you need to know anything else about her?

Well, if you do, I can tell you that her recipes are to die for. Find out for yourself! You won’t be disappointed.

Have Faith in This Hubber

Yes, corny indeed, but Faith is one sincere, genuine human being, and I love having her as a follower. If you want uplifting, then Faith is your person. I do know her real name but I’ll leave it to her to tell you if she wants to. What I can tell you is this is a woman who is devout and compassionate, and that’s a pretty good foundation to build on.

You can find Faith Reaper at http://faithreaper.hubpages.com/. She has worked with the homeless and the downtrodden, and she walks her talk each and every day of her life. If you want to meet someone who believes in the goodness of mankind, then this is the lady you should meet.

7777, I Know Not What It Means

But if you put the name Carol before those numbers, then you have Carol7777 and you have a friend of mine who is as faithful as they come.

Carol is a relative newcomer but she has her feet beneath her now and she has hit the ground running. Check out http://carol7777.hubpages.com/hub/How-I-Wrote-a-Successful-Book-and-an-Unsuccessful-Book to read about her experiences writing a book. Very informative as are all of her hubs. She is a bit eclectic in her Hubs, covering a wide-range of topics, and that just makes her very interesting to me as she shares her life experiences with us.

Miss Pooja Is a Treasure

From India I give you Pooja, as nice a person as you are likely to meet. She showed up one morning on my doorstep and has not left since. J Her profile tells us that her name means “worship” and she is an introvert. I can tell you that she is compassionate and a genuinely nice person, and if she decides to follow you then she FOLLOWS you, faithfully and with constant support.

Don’t Irc Me Off!

Oh my that was my worst yet, and what a way to introduce my good friend Linda! On HP she is known as Irc7815, and she has rapidly become one of my better online friends. We have somehow become kindred spirits in that strange way people connect on the internet. We seem to think the same thoughts, and randomly toss around the same ideas with regards to Hubs, and it’s almost spooky.

Check out her latest http://lrc7815.hubpages.com/hub/Mankind-Kind-Man and then get to know her. Linda is quality people and you will be doing yourself a favor by saying hello to her.

Sit With Me Awhile

More Later Provided I Remember

I know, using my age as an excuse is weak, but it’s the only excuse I have, so cut me some slack.

I want to sincerely thank all of you who follow me. I am the most grateful Hubber on HubPages. Through the support of all of you I have found my new passion, and each of you have given me the encouragement that I need to keep writing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Its always great to learn about our community and on hubpages this is the best way, our community, our friends, introduced in a hub....your hubbers of choice show your own personality, each a great writer and each a great human being. Thank you for this series Bill and for all the others (like my own) it has inspired.

      Voted up, useful, and interesting.

So kind of you to take the time to thank the people that provided support. All the people on the list definitely deserve to be there! I joined this site to help others and I am so surprised how much the people in the community helped me and keep my motivated to write more. I'm sure other writing sites are probably not quite so supportive.

I am so honored I don't know what to say which is unusual for me. This is about the best recognition I could possibly hope for. I love reading all your hubs and try never to miss one. I am happy to be part of this community and trying to get my writing legs. I know I write about so many things as I have so many interests. Thanks so much Billybuc you have made my day. As long as you write I will read.

I'm humbled and honored to be included in this list. I know there have been many with you longer than I, and look forward to reading about them in the future. I am very familiar with all but one mentioned, and that will be cured shortly. Bill, it is a pleasure to call you my friend! No brag, just fact! Don't worry about your memory. I love this series, Bill. You always manage to include a few with whom I'm familiar and whose work I admire and a few new people to check out. FarmerRachel is one of my newer discoveries and I know she has a lot to teach us two budding "egg farmers." And, Rachel, if you're reading this, still no eggs! Although it looks like at least one of the girls has been spending some time in the nesting box.

Billy, giving wholehearted credit where due to people who've enhanced one's life is not only gracious, but it's noble. And I appreciate your introducing me to some great Hubbers I didn't know. The best thing is how much you know they've helped you by their faith in you.

This is the 1st of the series I've seen, so I need to find & read the others.

If I didn't already adore you, I would now. I am so honored to make one of your "fan" hubs. Someone asked a question a few days ago about what was the greatest compliment you had ever received as a writer. I didn't answer the question because...I wasn't sure of my answer. I am now though. The greatest compliment I hve received as a writer is to make your list, Bill. And you nailed me. I do have a bit of an edge when I care about something and I won't apologize for it.

You are such a dear person Bill. You not only help all of us newbies but you also have these parties where you introduce us to each other. That, is just too cool for words. I may not even write today but instead, may just visit some of your other friends and get acquainted.

Yes, our relationship is a bit spooky sometimes but...I am so grateful to have it. It is one of life's precious gifts and I cherish it. Thank YOU!

I am amused, but also disappointed, in some Hubbers who think this is a competition. How silly is that? This is a place of support and comfort....and ultimately friendship. I truly appreciate you, my friend, and will continue to sing your praises to anyone who will listen.

I have read some of the writers you have highlighted, and recognize many you have mentioned.

I recently read some earlier postings of yours and found it interesting that you did not find yourself worthy or the title "writer".

      Billybuc,

Yes, it is, I was only shattered and blue for about a day or two. LOL How sweet of you to notice though. I had a time cropping it, as I have one armed raised over my head and it just looked funny with my arm across my head in the photo here. So I just chopped the top of my head off. LOL Wonder what kind of hubs I will come up with now! Ha. Plus with these small windows on comments, I tried to back it up some, but maybe on the profile page-not so bad? I had decided to change things up from time-to-time, as I have seen others doing so. Southern summers and sun and just letting the hair grow out. You are a mighty handsome one yourself, if I may say so myself. LOL My computer is about ready to drive me crazy here lately. So please bear with me, as I will always comment, especially for you!

No reason to be embarrassed dear one, as it is I who is embarrassed, as I see my typo in my previous comment, meant to say, "to Canada though." No, I am a southern girl (oh, I mean, "from Somewhere On This Temporal World That Is Not Our True Home) LOL You are too cute, and please do not be embarrassed at all, and I am glad you are used to it -- me too!!! Billy - Even your style of voting process at the end of the hub provides a laugh! You listed more of the hubs I cherish, which have been provided by faithreeper - a soul more of us should take a lesson from - selfless is how I would describe this hubber.

Carol7777 is someone I just started following and am glad I did. She writes such heart touching hubs and provides some kick-ass recipes!

Poojasd - another kind soul with insight.

Fantastic series you've been doing. Too bad I was too dense to read the rest of the title before determining it was one I had already read!

Ahhhhhhh - you are quite used to my odd ticks by now!

I love the idea of this series. You are so right, Billy, HP is not all about competition; it is a community of support and encouragement. Writing on HP is about the sharing of ideas, experiences – ourselves, really - and the honing our craft. Up ++.

Thank you Genna and I agree....and yet I've seen jealousy and competition on this site, and on some of the Facebook groups made up of Hubbers....I just don't understand that kind of thinking.

Thank you my dear; you are special to me.

Keep writing this if you want to billybuc! I think these are great and I enjoy learning about these writers. Some I read and some are new to me, so I enjoy hearing about them and your recommendation. Where would we be without our readers? We all started out the same way, Bill, not knowing if we or our writing would be accepted or not. It is like "each one teach one." We help and encourage one another because we are all in this together!

Bill we need such a awesome series to keep running on hubages, no way should you stop this sort of super positive reinforcing style hub.

As you know very well I also love spreading the love on hubpages, and so yup this hub was yet another proven fact that this hubpages community is truly awesome, and even if we had to deal with the entire network going down for some hours or so recently.

Plus I will always love hubpages and those positive awesome writers it attracts, oh and you buddy already know how we roll out here Haha! (We are part of the super friends club Bill, LOL)

Awesome installment bro, keep them coming and we all will make effort to keep reading as you say for me many times in my hubs. Thumbs up and shared!

Mike, as you well know, there are a lot of writers' sites out there, but there is no chance any of the others has the Hub love that HP has. I am living proof of customer satisfaction and I plan on being here for a good long time. Thank you buddy; buddies for life, you and I.

Have a great weekend and I'll catch you down the road at some point.

Mr. Archer, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your comment. I am blessed, and I want everyone on HP to have the experience I have had. I love it here and it's because of people like you. Find your niche, whatever it is that gives you passion, and then just write. Eventually the person that you are will arise out of your words.

Have a great weekend Mr. Joplin! :)
