Hubbers who Help Me

Updated on June 26, 2017

Ever since I came to this place I’ve been more of a reader than a writer. The talent and ability of the wordsmith, the craftsman-like skill that is so evident here both uplifts and encourages me. It’s not only knowledge and skill though. The people mentioned here are also generous with their time and knowledge. Though this list is not extensive I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to these folks for what they do for me and for other aspiring writers.

James A. Watkins

From the number of comments he gets to each of his Hubs James must be the most loved and admired writer on HubPages. He has a large number of loyal fans and I am one of them. He is a prolific writer; I have suggested to him that he must have been given more hours in the day than the rest of us. It’s not the quantity; the quality of his writing is so good and so well researched that his historical Hubs are a resource in themselves. When he writes about Religion and Politics I find I disagree with almost everything he says, however he causes me to think about why I disagree. James also writes in an easy-to-read style that I have done my best to emulate. You inspire and inform me James, I thank you

Mark Knowles

Mark is one of the most knowledgeable writers I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I have a folder on my computer named “Helpful Hub Hints” mark has an inordinate amount of writing in there. I have never been tempted to buy a book about making money on the internet since reading Mark’s work. He not only has a wealth of knowledge but he is incredibly generous with his online time and information. He has shown himself more than willing to be helpful to anyone who asks. Without knowing it he has been my Mentor and Guru in my new found and fledgling writing career. It is impossible to mention Mark Knowles without also mentioning that his laconic wit and irrepressible baiting of Christians has had him kicked off the forums more times than I’ve kicked the cat out of bed.

Unfortunately it seems that he overstepped the bounds one time too many and has been banned from HubPages. I'm still including him though because he was a great help to me in my early years.

Sunforged

I first met Josh in my early days here. I had a problem with broken links on my Hub so I posted in the “help” forum. He answered and the problem was solved. I became his fan after reading some of his Hubs and I’ve been an avid reader ever since. Another writer who has a large amount of his work in my “Helpful Hub Hints” folder. That folder has more information from Sunforged alone than I would get in any of these pay me scams the internet is full of. He wrote a Hub on backlinks so I followed him onto Redgage, Shetoldme and Snipsly. All of my Hubs now have some of their traffic from all three of those sites.

Misha

You may notice that Misha does not have a large number of Hubs. They are worth studying though because they are examples of how to monetize an article. A careful study of the layout and the content will show that here is someone who knows how to put words, images and placement to maximum effect. Misha is one of those rare individuals who teaches, not by words but by example. That requires a little thought on the part of the reader who wishes to learn this craft but the rewards of studying Misha’s work far exceeds the effort.

Neil Ashworth

Ever see those advertisements “How to make money online” and “The turnkey system to get rich today”? Read Neil’s Hubs. Neil not only does brilliant exposes on online and MLM scams he also will show you how to make money for real and it’s all free. This is the beauty of Hubpages and why we all need people like Neil. A brilliant internet marketer he has so much to teach and to share that I can’t take it all in on one sitting. He is a resource that I go back to regularly. At this time I’m just here to write and enjoy writing but if ever the wolf comes to the door I know that I can count on Neil to give me answers and point me in the right direction.

Princessa

Princessa’s Hubs are well worth the read. She is having an interesting life going by her writing and she is able to articulate her observations and experiences with a remarkable fluency. As well as being enjoyable and required reading for amateurs like me who are trying to improve style and content, it is important to mention the other aspect of Princessa, the weekly Hubmob. Princessa is another example, and she is on the forefront of those people, who generously give their time and talents to improve the overall quality of Hubpages. Her work in the Hubmob not only gives us all the opportunity to showcase our talents it also helps to raise the level of Hubpages in the search engines and in the reputation of the writing industry.

Sufidreamer

Sufidreamer is a writer. I know we all are on Hubpages, that’s why we are here but Sufidreamer is something else, he is a highly proficient, knowledgable and talented individual that I hope to emulate. Take a note of his “Home Improvement” hubs. These are obviously commercial written for monetary gain and yet they are also informative and provide a great deal of useful information to the homeowner and builder aside from their commercial aspect. Then take a look at his Philosophical Hubs and you can get a glimpse of the depth of the man himself. Here’s a hint for aspiring authors; His Hubs are his portfolio.

Shadesbreath

Shadesbreath has been on Hubpages for over two years and of this writing has a personal Hub score of 100. Richly deserved, his Hubs range from the humorous to the highly informative to the everyday useful like finding a good mechanic. This is a highly creative writer with a wide range of subject matter that comes alive to the reader.

There’s something else about Shadesbreath; I never looked for fans or approval from the writing community at Hubpages, I’m in the fortunate position of having a well paid, though demanding, job. This is my new found hobby and I just plod along writing what I enjoy writing about and learning from these good folks. Shadesbreath came across my Hubs by accident and then promoted me on Hubpages. I was totally overwhelmed by his generosity and acclaim. Overnight my fans doubled and the views to my articles went through the roof. I owe Shadesbreath a debt I could never repay. For the first time in my life, and I’m an old fart whose done a lot of things, I feel “Discovered

This is not the end of my list, just the end for now. There are many others that I’m grateful for and I will write about them also. The Hubbers who Help me I may never meet in this lifetime but I will always be thankful and any success I may achieve with this gig will never be mine alone. It will also be the result of the encouragement, talents and wisdom of these amazing people.

But the money will still be mine.
