30 Day Hub challenge: In the Land of HubPages I found a Wonderland Experience

The 30 Day Hub Challenge gave me the motivation to spend serious time pushing out Hubpages content. Though finding HubPages online was a moment of serendipitous delight and a total course correction for me in 2011. I had this burning desire to write more often and possibly publish my thoughts had been a burning desire for quite some time. It all started when my husband bought golf lessons as a Christmas gift. I’d wanted to learn the game in order to mutually enjoy playing together, instead of just driving the cart while observing the game from afar. What does this have to do with writing you ask? Well, it was one evening after Christmas while surfing the web while reading a couple blogs and also thinking about the golf lessons that I had an inspirational revelation. I wondered how fun would it be to write a blog about my first year golf adventures. It was in that moment that GolfgalinTexas was born. By January 1, 2011, I began my creative writing adventures by blogging about my personal experiences with the game of golf.

However, the enthusiasm waned for a short period since I had no idea what posting a blog was all about. The additional knowledge needed to begin the blog had to be fore learned. “Oh my, what did I get myself into?” “What on earth is a widget?” and “How and the heck do I establish a Google AdSense account?” These were only a few of the many questions that needed resolved before this new writing adventure would get off the ground.

While expediting this blogging learning curve and carefully manuevering a blogging website to appropriate my blogging fun, I came across an article about earning money online by publishing through HubPages. It was there... in that moment of serendipity that a new hubber was born. Needless to say, I chased after that hub rabbit lickity split. Little did I know…I would be chasing that rabbit right down that proverbial hole into a Mad Hatter world of imagination where anything is possible. Who would have wondered that a 'Hub-centric Mad Hatter' would challenge me to write HubNuggets and the HubNipotent Queen of Hub-Challenges would throw down a gauntlet. “ I have accepted your Challenge, my Queen, and taken up the gauntlet to write Hublicious HubNuggets of quality content for the next 30 days”, I said as I smiled like the proverbial Cheshire cat that I am.

30 Day Hub Challenge will help with the Weekly HubNugget Nominations

I’m Late, I’m Late For a Very Important HubDate:

During the 30 Day Hub Challenge, there were many days when I posted a new hub that would have qualified for the secret weekly Hubnugget topic selected in the week prior, in essence I end up missing the window where I potentially had a go at a HubNugget nomination. Needless to say, it was usually posted too early. Oh well, ce qui sera.

One thing you can expect from the HubPages Staff is that there is always a very important date. I usually patron all the Hubliciously selected HubNuggets each week because there's always something to learn. I also enjoy the weekly adventures of the HubNugget team. They certainly have had a time of it lately being marooned and shipwrecked and all. I guess one good thing is that there seems to be a lot of coconuts wherever they ventured. Anyway, I remain hopeful to achieve Hubnugget status one day before my rookie period expires, but time is short....for a very important date.

Read about the 30 Day Hub Challenge in The Learning Center

The Learning Center rocks!! The greatest element of hubwriting on the Hub is that no matter what questions you have or problems you encounter, there is someone that can help you through it. You can ask questions from the community of experts who have walked in your shoes and/or read the multitude of helpful hubs written by hubbers all featured in The Learning Center. The first couple weeks, I spent hours reading every article in The Learning Center. It is not a requirement, but because I did not know very much I was hungry for knowledge and information. That I got for sure and further motivated me to challenge myself to the 30 Day Hub Challenge.

Weekly HubMob Nomination

Another date to remember is the Hub Mob Deadline. Participating in the Weekly HubMob adventure is always a learning experience. The selected elite are nominated by the HubMobsters and voted on by your peers. Writing on a researched topic as a new hubber helps to get the fingers typing about all kinds of interesting things and also prepares the writer for deadline publishing. I did not understand the true value of this learning tool until I was publishing for about a month. Though I read about it in The Learning Center, I didn't figure it out initially. When I discovered the forum posting that explained how it all came together, that is when I started to participate and saw immediate results; so will you. Amazingly, one HubMob article I published titled Baby Pacifier alias The Binky is still getting attention every day and ranked high at the time of this publishing. I would like to boast that I spent lots of time researching the keywords and preparing for high traffic results, but the truth is….I didn't have a clue about SEO rankings and the benefits of Keyword Research. Two months ago, I didn't know the difference between a CEO and an SEO, what an SEO was or how it worked. Google AdWords didn't register in my point of reference. It allowed for a faster learning curve by reading more about online publishing also learning how to publish more searched for and readable content by actively participating in the weekly HubMob and continuing to read the how to publications of my peers. There are many folks on the Hub that know their stuff. Learn from them. I still consider myself a greenhorn about Internet marketing. However, I can say for sure I am learning more each day and getting more excited all the time.

30 Day Hub Challenge will increase HubKarma

What is a Hub score and HubKarma? Sounds mystical, but it is very logical indeed. These internal ratings are tools used by HubPages to measure your participation in the community. The more you read, vote, link, backlink, and share, the better your score. In the Hubtastic world we write in, it is all about community. To share and be shared like… rabbits appearing from nowhere, just when you least expect it….a serendipitous moment is simply… Hublicious.

Writing Original Content - That's The Ticket

While engaged in the 30 Day HubChallenge, I learned one very important lesson. That lesson is there is no big secret to success. Most everyone that has been on the site for some time will tell you the like….write good original content and you’ll be successfully noticed. Learning something new everyday is essential to personal growth and keeping up with new technologies is essential. Write about what you know and research what you want to learn, but share it in your own original words. That’s the ticket.

Link and Backlink

Remember to link and backlink other hubs of the same topics by using the ‘link to this page’ button on the bottom of the hubs you wish to link. You can also link by clicking on the link button when editing text to add links within your text. Communicating with others is essential to the community.

HUB HOPPING: Read, Vote, Hop, Read, Vote, Hop

Continue to read, read, read – I have been an avid reader for years. At one time I was reading several books a week. When you read that much, you find stories to tell about your own experiences very easily amongst and between the words of other writers. Such is the same in the HubPages community. I have been so inspired by the quality of HubPages community of writers. You will have an opportunity be a Hub Hopper and vote on as many new hubs as you feel like reading. Hop…hop…hop little rabbit of HubPages there is a rabbit hole to enter, a wonderland to explore.

Sweet Serendipity

In my 40’s I was blessed to return to school full time for two years to complete my bachelors degree. During those two years I wrote lots of papers and a full thesis to graduate. I found a voice and an ability to write on a deadline during those years. It was a time in my life I will always cherish as it was a gift to myself to complete my college education and come out a writer. Since that time, I have remarried, moved to Maryland then to Texas, so writing took a back seat for a while. I started on this journey when I started a blog and found HubPages. I felt as though I found that voice once again. Hubpages was a wonderful serendipitous moment that I hope to enjoy for years to come. It is my hope you will continue onto read more of my writings and stay tuned as I challenge myself to post 30 hubs in 30 days. Happy Hub Challenge to you.
