Hurray, Another Paycheck from Hubpages
Hurray, Another Paycheck from Hubpages
Happy days, I just transferred another paycheck from Hubpages directly into my back account. I find this so amazing especially since I really haven’t been publishing very much at all since January of 2012. I have been working on several other endeavors specifically research. In the past two months all my attention has been focused away from Hubpages. As a matter of fact my email was accidentally blocked for the entire month of July. This paycheck is almost entirely passive income.
In The Beginning
I was told by not one but many people they had never received a pay check and that I should not ever expect one. I continued to write anyways as a measure of healing myself through my Mother’s death and as a Memorial to her. Not being a materialistic person I hadn’t planned on receiving anything in the immediate future. In any business it usually takes 3-5 years to turn a profit and that was my time line with Hubpages. I also understood I was not technically savvy and therefore would be at a significant disadvantage compared to those who understood such things as SEO and back linking. But I just kept banging away at the keys and keeping the faith that Hubpages would reward my work eventually.
And I am still operating in a deficit when I consider how much my internet service costs versus how much I make but I am still being paid and that is important for everyone who hasn’t been paid to know. Keep working and you will be paid.
But I am still expecting in 3-5 years I will be able to make more than I spend on internet service. That is my goal.
The real reason I write is to share and interact with all the wonderful people on Hubpages (HP) and all around the world. I really enjoy writing and sharing with all of you and I enjoy reading your work as well. I look things up on HP almost as much as I look things up on Google.
But like I have written before it is always the beginning with HP because it is a fluid business that is constantly changing and dynamic. For everything I learn there are a hundred more things I need to learn. I will always been challenged and I will hope to live up to my goals and standards as a Hubpage’s writer.
Tips on Writing for SEO
In Hind Sight
In hind sight I would have written better hubs but it was right after my Mother’s death and it was all I was capable of at the time. It is a memorial to her and it is my documentation of my healing through grief so I have started out with hubs written out of grief.
I also probably wouldn’t have been so prolific either or I would have created a screen name for every topic which I write on. I believe I have 557 hubs right now and I am about 14 months into writing for Hubpages. It is a lot when I log onto my account just to keep track of the topics which I write about. I get lost in my own account sometimes. I really feel for the people who have over 4,000. While I have been prolific I am no where near the most prolific writer on hubpages.
I also draw and paint which I would have included if I could. As part of my Mother’s passing I have lost my ability to paint and draw. I took Oil painting up several years before her passing. While I am not very good I was appreciated and my art did have value when appraised. Since my Mother’s death I have not been able to paint. It is as if she took that part of me with her. I have even been unable to draw well. But if I could have I would have included my original art work, drawings and original photography.

What I Am Super Glad I Did Do…
I am thrilled I was involved in the Patron of the Arts contest. It was creative writing which admittedly I have had difficulty being creative since my Mom’s passing. I pushed myself to write poems which I never thought I would be capable of doing and I also pushed myself to write creative fictional stories. I thought I found a niche and it was quite good for me as a writer. That contest stirred my inner creative soul. I was able from there to start working on a literature review and creating a research design and a study for children with Autism which was launched in January of 2012 hence my major absence from HP for so long.
I also highly recommend everyone take the challenges. It pushes you into having to be creative on command. It forces you to answer practical questions like how to find to work from home without distractions, how to make a work schedule that meets your productivity quota et al.
I really believe good form, unique topics and creative hubs is what is required to be successful on HP along with a bit of technical savvy.
There is a tenant on HP which is if you want to be read, read. It truly is that simple. Then put out the best hub you can and the rest will fall into place in time.

Finally
You do get paid. I am living proof of that. Keep working and you will be rewarded. As with anything you do in life it may not be the amount of money you desire but there are so many wonderful people to meet and learn from on HP.
Run the race at your pace and always win on HP.
Update
I have been on Hubpages for almost three years now and while I am not paid every month. I am earning every single month. Writing is the beginning but editing is incredibly important and admittedly, I am a horrible proof reader. Many of my dear friends I started with on Hubpages now run their own sites and write for several other sites as well. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience both financially but also because or the incredible talent I am surrounded by within this community.
The rewards have been far greater than I ever would have expected.
