Meet Vincent Moore

I feel like I have 'always known' Vincent Moore, saddlerider, The Cowboy, known by his friends as Ken.

I learned early on that this man was loyal and true to his friends. I was also drawn to the range of poetic expression that comes out of Vincent's quill. For me, his writing is visual, visceral and vulnerable.

I believe you will enjoy this interview about HubVille's resident poet. I know you will enjoy a visit to his writing sites.

The times I'm most creative

are late evenings, bottle of wine to my right. candlelight and quietude, with my Muse ever so close prompting me to take Quill in hand.

The times I'm most joyful

are when I hear from my children, it hasn't happened in 13 years so I struggle with joy in my life, but I do find ways to stay centered, like cooking, reading, exercise, music and visiting close friends.

Something I'd like to learn to do

Hmm that would be diplomacy. I find as I'm ageing my mind and mouth seem to awake at the same time and often I am defending my actions.

Something I got rid of and never missed...?

My last wife, I never really got rid of her in a horrible sense, like bloody murder or something as terrible. Although after our divorce I thought I did get rid of her, she still haunts me day and night. LoL

Something I fear?

never ever talking to or seeing my children again before I die.

What I most despise in others?

I despise liars, cheaters bullies, woman beaters, child abusers, arrogance, snobbery. Need I say more?

Some advice to my younger self?

Follow your dreams, don’t let people put you down. Stay focused on your path. If you find your soul mate ensure she is your best friend first and let nobody get in between the two of you.

The best part of getting older?

Being healthy to enjoy it.Doing all the things you planned to do, stay young at heart and never stop dancing.

Best gift I ever gave someone?

My utmost respect and friendship everlasting to the point of dying for them if I had to.

If you peeked in my closet, you would be surprised to find?

Much BLACK clothing, I won’t wear bright colors or white until my soul is cleansed completely. My Muse and I are constantly working on it.

My secret talent?

I have none, they are all exposed in my writings. Although I would love to be an accomplished musician. I struggle with my guitar miserably.

Best gift I ever received from someone?

When I was 15 yrs old, meeting my Mentor and father I never had. He then became my Muse and he passed over to the other side in 92.

My dream dinner date?

I would love to have dinner with Sylvia Platt, Vincent Price, Edgar Allan Poe and Papa Hemingway, I know we would have much to share and the wine would flow.

My favorite vacation spot, paradise destination?

There are so many, however I would love to explore Greece and sail its blue waters and speak to the ghosts from their past.

Best advice to a new writer

Keep writing and don't get discouraged by negatives. Express yourself from your soul, let your pen flow naturally, don't force it. Stay in control and don't be deterred by critics.

My favorite book and why?

It isn’t the Bible as so many would choose Anything Charles Dickens or Samuel Clements would take me into another world where I would be content.

What subjects / genres are you best at writing/ about?

My past experiences as a boy and teen, the abuse in life, the homeless and the pain of growing older and trying to express your life that you lead.

What would be a subject/ genre that would challenge your current writing efforts?

Writing about pretty things, I find melancholy my best subject.

Thank you, Vincent

I had no difficulty selecting the following Temptations song for you, the eternal Cowboy of HubPages...: "Runaway Child, Running Wild".
