What is Google Adsense?

If you are looking to find out exactly what Google Adsense is then you have come to the right place.

Google Adsense is basically an advertising program set up by Google. It is really easy to sign up to and is free to use. If you have a website or blog then you can use Google Adsense to display content related adverts on your site/blog. If you are displaying Adsense adverts on your website every time somebody clicks on that ad you can make money from it.

Why would these adverts interest people?

People visit your site because you are providing a service you may have a website that is about puppies and puppy care or a site about photography. Whatever the subject matter of your site people visit it to find out what you know about that particular subject. If you were to display Google’s Adsense ads then people may click on them to find out even more about your particular topic.

For example you have written a blog about fishing for beginners. On your blog you have Google Adsense ads. Visitors to your blog may decide that they would like to take up fishing as a weekend hobby. They have read your blog and they see a Google Adsense ad that they can click on to buy some really high quality fishing rods. Every time a visitor did this you would make some money.

Google Adsense is being used on heaps of websites and has become a very popular way of monetising websites and blogs because the adverts are content based. If you have a fishing website the adverts will be fishing related.

How much can I earn?

I shall attempt to answer this question with another question. ‘How long is a piece of string?’ The amount of money you can generate from Google’s Adsense systems depends on a variety of factors. It depends on your content and chosen topic. Some topics will pay a higher amount per click than others so if you have a subject that pays out more then you can make more.

The earnings will also depend on how many visitors you get to your site. The higher your sites traffic the higher the number of ad clicks. Every click earns you money so the more people who click the more money you get. The conversion rate for this tends to be around 1% average. This means that 1% of your visitors will click on an advert within your site. I know this does not sound like much but the more visitors your site gets the better off you will be. Besides I didn’t say it would be easy to make money I just said it was possible! Also there are some people out there who are making $100’s a week from Google Adsense revenue.
