   been here, is this normal? I have through Adsense, so I'm wondering what I've done wrong with Amazon?

   It takes several months and many many articles before you make anything with them. Focus on writing and don't worry so much about how much you make. Writing good stories will bring people to your site more than focusing on advertising.

   Neiher have I, it is much harder in the beginning to make money with Amazon. I can't tell you from experience how to start making money on Amazon but it is easier to make money through Google AdSense. It does not mean you have done something wrong, it just means more learning is needed on how to make money with Amazon.

   Like any form of sales, online sales need a number of viewers (into the thousands) to start making money.  Don't get discouraged :-)

   I'm not crazy about Amazon being an affiliate. They only have something like a 24 hour cookie. Meaning Amazon will only track visitors that come through your link (for affiliate payment purposes) for 24 hours. If they come back and buy something after that, Amazon ignores your affiliate code.
   
   Other companies have cookies that last 30, 60 and even 90 days or more.
   
   Pick something your Amazon visitors are likely to buy right away. I've never had any luck in selling high dollar merchandise through Amazon.

   Like the previous post, making money require traffics. If your articles are not interesting, then no one will read. Beside, you are fighting with other hubbers.
   
   If you want to make money, then you should start thinking of your own blog and niche then use clickbank to find affiliate link.
   Describe the products on your site.

   You are going to have to do much more promotion than just write hubs. You need a site, blog or some form advertising skills to promote your amazon links. 
   
   Try other forms of social media sites and point them to your hubs.
   You won't get rich...but you should make some sales.

    Very Normal.  I'm at 13 months, and never a penny.  Don't give up though, you never know what could happen.  The way to make money with amazon, or really, on Hubpages is to write product specific articles, and then feature that article on an amazon capsule.
    
    You see, if you write about your boots, specifically the brand, etc; then people who are shopping on the net for those boots will find your hub, and perhaps, they'll buy them from your amazon capsule if you've interested them with your product review.  If you do NOT interest them with your product review, then just maybe they'll bounce off of your hub from a Google ad that, contextually, should also be about some sort of boot or shoe that you are writing about, and that could at least make you something from adsense.
    
    Of course the "boot/shoe" analogy is just an analogy, but the same would be true about any product article.  Product articles will always make you more money than any other type of article here on hubpages, or anywhere else.  Problem solving articles are also good for the same reason, and should allow for you to incorporate an effective amazon.com capsule with them too.

    Hi Sarah, maybe you can put up your product's image on top of your website and make something call to action sentence too, such as this item is for sale up to xx% or free shipping , anything like that.
    
    However the product selection has to be right at the beginning, pick something that has good reviews (4+) to add more conversion. Tx.

    I haven't made anything from amazon either - I just have some books etc tacked onto hubs.  A seasoned hubber said that Amazon only seems to 'work' on targeted sales hubs (which mine aren't).  They said they also choose smaller/less expensive items, which people don't mind parting money for.

    From my understanding, after clicking on an Amazon link from a hub, the customer must be ready with their credit cards out to purchase an Amazon product within a 24 hour window. If they buy the product outside this window, you don't get any credit for the sale.
    
    So the hubs absolutely need to be the final step for them in their review process before they commit to buying. Targeted product review or sales hubs are probably best for this. You don't want readers to see the product featured on your hub without much information about it. 'Cos then they would tend to perform further research outside your hub and maybe eventually buy the product only after 25 hours (or more) have passed, by which point your referral link has expired and you don't get credit for their purchase.

    To date, l haven't made a penny on Amazon. I have 2 websites that also have Amazon Carousel products - nothing.
    
    I don't trust Amazon anymore and have started removing them from my Hubs.

    Of all of the advice given here, two stand out.
    First; it takes time for your hubs to receive traffic. Second and the best advice given in this post(not by me..although I wish I had), is to post product specific adds from Amazon Ex; I write about photography and sometimes about the Canon brand of products, my Amazon adds will usually have an add from Canon.

    amazon only has a 24 hour tracking cooking, the user has to click on your amazon ad then buy anything from the site. now the number 1 down fall is, there is tons of shady browser toolbars that will rewrite affiliate cookie id's a topic amazon does not like to talk about, number 2 the payouts for amazon last time i checked are less then 5%, If someone buys a 20 dollar item, you will only get $1.00. Some commission is even less then that. Number 3 my personal experience, i tossed them aside long long ago because i had them on 12 separate sites as the primary and only made 1 sale while my secondary at the bottom of the content pages affiliate account netted me $1,800 in a single month.
