    Do you have to be approved for AdSense to be active in HubPages Earnings program?

    I am not yet approved for Google AdSense due to lack of content (I only have 1 Hub so far).  However, I completed the form for the HubPages Earnings Program, yet it is still listed as not being active.  Advice?  Thanks

    I believe the second half of the earnings program has to be completed first; I am working on mine now.  It's important to get credit when credit is due?

    Yes, currently you have to have an Adsense account in order to be paid through the HP Earnings Program.  Since Adsense has become stricter in approving new applications, it is wise to apply only after you have at least 10 (better 15) articles on your account. 

    When you apply, make sure your HubPages account is set to display all hubs on your profile (including idle hubs). The default setting is to only show featured hubs, but you can easily change this by going into the edit mode of your profile page. Other things that can help your account get approved faster would be to upload a profile picture and write a short blurb about yourself (which you already have). 

    You don't necessarily have to apply for an Adsense account through HubPages.  Do you already own a website? Do you post videos on YouTube or have a blog on Blogspot? Both of those platforms are owned by Google (which also owns Adsense) so you can get an Adsense account that way.

      Thank you for your detailed response.  The HubPages community has been so helpful!  Do you only start getting paid per click once accepted into the program or is it retroactive to your first post?

      The HP Ads program pays by views and clicks. It does not extend retroactively, unfortunately.
