Who thinks that having the ability to create a poll within questions would be a good idea?
I know, I keep thinking up things that would require HP to write more script, ha! But there have been so many times I have wanted to just ask a question to get poll responses in order to get a tally without people having to read through an entire article, first. What do you think, has anyone else wished for something similar or is it just me?
I have two opposing viewpoints on this.
First of all, let me say that it's a great idea. It can be useful. I also had the experience of gaining enough information from a Q&A to end up writing an entire hub on it. I can see how a poll can make things simple, and as you said, a hub would not be the place to put it since there isn't enough content to go with it.
Now, for the rebuttal. The poll feature in HP does not work on mobile devices, it just displays as a blank section. And since mobile visitors are increasing, it would be a disadvantage compared to just asking a question and letting people answer in their own words. This can actually help give you more material, as I experienced with my Q&A.
In addition, HP staff is so busy with making changes to keep up with Google requirements that I doubt they would have time to consider this, especially since it is only usable by the diminishing world of desktop visitors.
Wow, I didn't know that about mobile devices. I guess I've never looked at HP on my phone - suppose I should. Thanks for the input.
Thank you, Catherine, for selecting my answer as best. You can view how your hub looks on a smartphone by selecting that option while in edit mode. HP had a blog on the need to make hubs mobile friendly. I also wrote a hub on how I did it.
I'll answer polls whenever I can contribute a qualified viewpoint. I myself am a simpler writer. I'll make links to photos and Amazon products, but I would prefer to let my articles speak for themselves. Polls might be the only part readers might look at closely.

This may have been asked for before, but I couldn't find it in search.Sometimes after writing a poll, or setting up the title of a comment capsule, I'd notice a typo or think of a change I wanted to make or a poll option I should have added. But once the hub goes live, and a single person adds a...

I've been anticipating some good responses to my poll questions in one of my hubs, and for a while now, I've been noticing a lack of interest. Upon investigating the article, I found a major issue with the Poll Tool.First off, when posting a poll, there is no notification of a limit on the length...

I recently tried to look at the answers/stats from a poll on one of my hubs. I was annoyed to find that I could not single-click for the results, but was in fact, taken OFF that page, to a separate stats page, and again had to make separate clicks to view the stats for each question in the...

Friday November 20, 2009.Your results are in, and much to talk about. The number of hubbers varies a bit question to question so I am going to add this in, however I don’t feel as though it throws off the end results very much.Thank you for participating in this questionnaire - the poll was well...
