Do you allow people to take your copyrighted content and post it on their site if they credit you?
I am currently overwhelmed at how the copyrighted content is being stolen from one of my hubs in particular. I found one woman even warn people to not take HER copyrighted content (a photo) with MY written content being over the majority of her page! People are very nervy it seems, and it's hard to even reach them. I have spent some time doing so just now, and then found another man stole the same content onto his flickr page, BUT he did at least credit me here on HubPages. This will mess up the searches, etc.
Can you please share any thoughts on how you deal with people in such cases?
Often, if i get a polite request from a Non-profit organization, I will give permission if they give me credit on their publication.
Sad to say, the reality is that the web is like the wild west, with all of its villains and shysters, just waiting for an easy sucker to take advantage of.
I take one day a month and try to go after at least one of these crooks. Some are polite and take care of their error, more never respond, and I do file against them but my batting average is low even then.
Good luck!
DON
I agree with Don, the web is like the wild west. It is a nuisance when people steal your stuff, but, you might take it as a complement. At least your material is worth stealing!
No, I do not, because it hurts the rankings and views of my content and gives others the idea that they can do this.

I'm sorry if this post offends anybody, but I am really getting tired of people who basically are non English speakers showing up, throwing a hub together without expending any effort to read the forums or the learning center to find out what they should be doing, and then asking for help to...

Is it true that Google is inundated by billions of articles that it's suffering from a system overload, and unable to give quality attention to new and better written articles? Just imagine, the poor Google crawler had to sift through 14 million articles to come up with 10 results on page 1 for a...

As a freelance writer, the noose around my neck is getting tighter with AI content expanding. I am happy to see this happening. OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is facing a lawsuit from bestselling writers, including George R.R. Martin, John Grisham and Elin Hilderbrand, that claims the company fed...

A discussion started about this on the end of another thread, but it's got buried. I was checking an early Hub today and it reminded me, because I'd used a photo from another website. At that time, I didn't understand that most photos on most websites are copyright, unless they...

I wrote for Bukisa a while back. This website has since closed down and I would like to edit and use one of my posts to create a new hub. To my knowledge they have been off the internet for a year or so. Is this permissable? I don't want to be penalized for 'copied content.'Thanks.

Is everything you post to hubpages automatically copyrighted?Or does something else have to be done to get my hubs copyrighted?
