One of my articles just dropped from the third or fourth spot on Google for my two main keywords...
to way down (I can't even find it, but I do know it's listed because if I put "hubpages" after it it shows up). Why would this have happened?
It is pretty impossible to understand the fickleness of Google...however one cause might have been if your Hub wasn't getting any traffic, or the traffic and interaction had dropped way off. Some people are speculating that the latest Google formula puts more weight on the amount of traffic and interaction (like comments) a site is getting, that and the holy backlink grail.
Again just speculation from what I've been reading on other forums etc. It is frustrating, I feel your pain.
It actually ended up bumping back up to where it was after a couple of weeks. I have now seen this happen with two other hubs that dropped from the first page to nowheresville and then in a few days were back to the first page. There's another one (My Demand Studios Scam? article: http://hubpages.com/hub/is-demand-studios-a-scam) that keeps fluctuating from the second spot overall to somewhere on the second page.
I guess you're right, there's just no predicting Google.
A lot of sites are writing about Demand Media these days, and since Google favours recent articles it quite possible your page is jumping up and down. Just keep it fresh, that might help.

It might be coincidence, and it's possible everybody else's figures have also dropped by 500%. It's also possible that from being paid out every month for a good few years, I am suddenly not paid out at all.Is this happening to everybody?I told Matt after he banned me that I had no desire for a...

One again, I have fallen victim to the whims of Google. My top earning article is responsible for half of my total views over my HP career. It was the first to be HubPro edited. It was the first to be moved to a niche site. It's been getting very dependable traffic since June. Last Tuesday, the...

Am I taking crazy pills, or is there another google update going on, or what? My traffic dropped on 8/8/13 from about 150 views a day to 0-9. My top hub is getting zero every day now. My hub score dropped from 90-something to 76. No overpromotion, no suddenly unfeatured...

I am just curious, all 92 hubs of mine are featured. In your opinion, should one delete (although Featured) any hubs where the score on a particular hub has eventually dropped way down from when it was initially high at one point? Or would it be better to just unpublish and later...

There may already be a thread on this, but I can't find it. So the two reasons I can find for the Fred update (9th March) were backlinks from ureputable websites and for websites which had a lot of advertising Some sites have apparently dropped 90% in traffic.I truly doubt that HP is going around...

A few days ago I noticed that my views had dropped about 50%. Now that number has gone up to 90%. When I searched the first sentence of my top 5 niche articles, nothing showed up. When I searched by exact title, nothing showed up. It appears my articles have disappeared...
