    Who said?
    A. "To make our economy stronger and more productive, we must make health care more affordable and give families greater access to good coverage and more control over their health decisions."

    B. "We simply cannot afford this. The cost of health care shows up not only in your family budget, but in the price of everything we buy and everything we sell. When health coverage for a fellow on the assembly line costs thousands of dollars, the cost goes into the product he makes. And you pay the bill."

    C. "Let us remove a financial specter facing our older Americans: the fear of an illness so expensive that it can result in having to make an intolerable choice between bankruptcy and death."

My subconscious immediately came up with Richard Nixon. It would apply to whichever quote is the oldest. I could be wrong...

I'm not going to comment now that I've checked, but we should definitely play this more often.

      Great idea MM

        Let's keep it going!
Feel free to find a zinger quote and post it for the good of the order.
I'm trying not to peek on Wavegirl's.
But curiosity may get the best of me!

Thanks for playing. Two out of three (albeit not exactly in the right order) is pretty darned good!

"It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something."

Has always been a favorite of mine.

            Gosh. That could be anyone.
            It sounds very presidential!

            I'm gonna guess FDR?

              Yay!
              I got it!

"All the president is, is a glorified public relations man who spends his time flattering, kissing, and kicking people to get them to do what they are supposed to do anyway."

    Okay my turn . .

I'm thinking Nixon because of his opening up of trade relations with China.

Well, I'll be gosh darned on that one.
JFK certainly knew "crisis." Who knew he knew Chinese characters?

    Here's one:

"The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life."

This Was a Good Idea. How about this one.

"We dare not tempt them with weakness. For only when our arms are sufficient beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be employed."

      Hey there, AV.
Just coming back into this thread after overnight.

Wow. That's a really good one. Who is the "them" referenced here?
I'm not sure whether to go with one of the original framers or maybe this has to do with
WWII, or it could be Reagan talking about the Evil Empire.

Ok, I'll take a wild stab and say ...
      RR.

John Q Adams....I like that one a lot, MM!

"I am rather inclined to silence, and whether that be wise or not, it is at least more unusual nowadays to find a man who can hold his tongue than to find one who cannot."

Would that we had more politicians inclined to silence.
