You must verify your email address before you can join a fan club. A verification email was just sent.
Email Address: <snipped>
There are two ways to complete the process, either:
click the link in the Email when it arrives
or enter the verification code from the email in the box below
I am sending you an email so we can clear this up. Snipped your email address above, as it's never a good idea to leave such information in the open.
Maddie, could you write an explanation here on the forum by chance? I also received the same message and just entered the emailed code, but I never changed my email. I just assumed it was for security purposes or simply to update records.
We recently added the requirement that you validate your email address before joining someone's fan's club, so if you never verified your email address before, that's what's triggering this now. We're hoping this cuts down on the number of spammers (with fake email addresses, often) who join a lot of fan clubs just to get backlinks and reciprocal fans.
Ahh thanks. I'm all for cutting down on the spam.
I'm curious- does this happen every time I join a fan club or just once?
and, with your answer to this question, you'll have your 1,000 forum post award! yay
Hip, hip, hooray! You hit 1,000 forum posts!
But it appears as if there is no award for that....yet. Maybe my milestones hubtivity will update and show it eventually.
Yeah, I do have some work to do, don't I?
And quite a few more to catch up with you SirDent. You've been busy?

If you receive an e-mail from a HubPages member, and the message says "e-mail address not verified," do you respond? I've only received a few messages through e-mail, all from truly wonderful HP people, but one showed the "not verified" message, and that gave me pause....

Hi, I recently changed my email address on my profile (long story, but basically I was having trouble trying to sign up for Adsense). Anyway, after I changed it, I went to check my inbox to click the link on the verification email that is supposed to be sent to verify my address, but 3 days...
