i sent my email address to someone from nigeria so they could make a payment.
i know now that this was a scam, what can i do
As long as it was just your e-mail address, and not any personal identifiable information then your just fine. Not much someone can do with just an e-mail address.
Agree with yaright. As long you only sent the email address you'll be ok. Your problems begin when you send other, more personal details, such as bank account numbers and addresses.
Just to be safe i would shut the email address down and get a new one. It won't take you long to do. You need to do this because when you signed up for the account you provided your contact information-you don't want those nigerians to be able to access it. The nigerians send out hundreds of email requests hoping to get someone to reply back to them-it really shouldn't be a problem for you but you need to err on the safe side and shut that email down.
