I wanted to write something about the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary for my show today, but I'm having trouble organizing my thoughts. I have so many emotions on the subject I'm afraid if I open myself up to them I won't be able to stop the tears from falling. Fellow Hubbers please help me out. I want to dedicate my show tonight, to stopping the madness that leads to tragedies like this. If you can create an original poem without any political innuendos about this tragedy or any of the other ones that have occurred this year I will read your poems on my show tonight and possibly next week's as well. I will be trying to write my own as well, but hopefully some of you can help organize my thoughts with your poetry.
I've not written anything (yet) but here is a link to one you could ask about including as it (sadly) fits the theme:

Well, since you are soliciting poems, I guess it is ok for me to mention that I have written one that may be apropo. More of a hypothesis in poem format...
I thought about what you requested and I am saddened and angry..senseless death of innocence..by a person who supposedly " felt pain "..he felt " nothing"...just an empty shell..sorry I hope I didn't offend with this write, but I put my words as I felt them....kjforce
It seems that life is no longer of value..
no matter what the cost..
Our food is altered and we're not even aware..
the nutritional and emotional needs are no longer there..
The mind and the heart are empty as well
Some go through life like an empty shell...
and there are no signs that predict what they'll do..
It may eliminate them or me or you...
Acts of kindness and caring are preached everyday..
but no one listens, to much trouble out of touch I say..
When are we going to start taking responsibility for ourselves and our actions...
and eliminate the blame on others through negative reactions...
If you are unhappy with the hand that life dealt you..set yourself free..
and end your life , that's how it should be...
May you rot in HELL you SOB....
I wrote a first draft and added it to another poetry hub I already had going. The name of the poem I just wrote is called A Better Place so go check it out. I will probably make a few changes to it before it's complete but I'm going out grocery shopping so I don't have time now. Feel free to play around with it if you'd like and change things around for your show. If you decide to use it, I don't mind. Sorry I don't have more time to make it better now. If I have time later I will play with it some more or try to think of another one.
HoneyBB do you have a link, because I can't find it in your hubs.
If it's not too late, here's the link....It's the last poem of the three entitled A Better Place

Philly, You will also find on the Hubs topic page (under books literature and writing) four or five other poems that have been written in the past day about the tragedy.
Thanks. I'll see if I can figure out how to see them.
I will be dedicating next weeks show to this challenge as well. I ran out of time and was unable to get everyone's poem in, but I will be sure to get them in next Monday. If anyone wants the link to the show so they can tune in, send me a message. Thanks eole for coming up so big on such short notice.
Link to Philly's radio show, it's on live now:

I'm interested in poetic process. I personally believe the real writing comes in the editing stage and that all first drafts, without exception, are abysmal. As a result, I edit and rewrite a piece...
