If these categories cannot be removed from HP, could they at least be removed from the general forum list of most recent postings? That way, those of us who don't want to see all the ugly posting labels don't have to see them. Let the fight be in private within those categories, without stressing the rest of us.
there is a way....i'll bump this; someone else may have the answer since I don't...but others block specific topics somehow...
This suggestion has been brought up before, and I love the idea! Rest assured it's an approach we're well aware of and rather interested in pursuing. Thanks for bringing it up!
Quietly buy the add on from whoever built it a while back and make it freely available?
I hope it will be a point of discussion among the staff -- we all have our political an/or religious views-- but the passions involved do cause discord in forums/. If there is a 'private' place set aside for this, perhaps that is an option.
I know it is a sticky situation. We love free discussion without censorship or restraint, but not holy wars, or civil wars that only promote discord and cause destruction.
It is done! The Topical Forums and HubPages Forums have been separated out. You can toggle between the two using the button at the top left of Forum listing pages. Enjoy!
Oh my. Just looked at this. I think the idea is to separate the two main categories of discord from the rest of the forums. You have to see the religious and political to see the other categories! Could this not be done?
Now you will have to switch back and forth all the time to use the forums. That is too much work. I will end up spending less time on the forums with this new method.
Yeah, I still have to wade through the religious and political stuff when all I want to do is read discussions about animals or some other topic that makes me happy. Don't get me wrong, I do get sucked into those less-than-positive topics, but sometimes, I'm just not in the mood for it.
It's a step in the right direction, but not quite what most of us had in mind (I think).
I hope you remembered to make a category for juice lovers. I am going to post on the orange juice thread. I'd be more excited about it, but I'm afraid a certain man in blue will follow me and other oj lovers around telling us we are fools for liking it. HE CAN'T MAKE ME GIVE UP ORANGE JUICE NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE MOCKS ME!
LOL Beth you're fun!
I second that!
I would post on an orange juice thread! IF it tolerated grapefruit juice and pineapple juice and guava juice and all the other juices, both fruit and veggie. I will not be part of a biased thread; it must be a total free-for-all.
Apples, of course, are evil in origin. Ill let you all discuss this over orange juice.
Okay. I agree apples are baaaaad. But just so ya know---I think apples will be necessary, 'cause people have to have choices!
I think people were hoping to actually get rid of the religion and politics topics. Well, let me be more specific - at least that's what I was hoping. But this is a great beginning! Thank you so much!
I'm mainly interested in HP community discussions of HP related topics. I don't have a lot of time to spend in other topics anyway.

I skip religious and political topics. I enter all extreme hubmakeover, need help ask help, hubbers hangout, sandpit forum topics and other random topics that I may like.

@HP Just wanted to say thanks. If anyone else has something positive to say about our adventures here, this is the place.

I was just looking at the titles of the threads for the forums and was immediately struck by the large number of religious topics, many of which have God in the title. I am just wondering why there are so many religious posts here at present? It makes hubpages look as if it is full of religious...

I believe this has been addressed before but can we please revisit it. I have very little interest in the religion and political forum threads yet they seem to occupy 75%+ of the latest activity. It's an inconvenience to have to browse through Jesus this and Obama that just trying to read on topics...

Would the Q&A section of HP improve if we tried to avoid religious and political topics? These two topics have dominated this section so much, that a lot of people are losing interest. So many questions are the same except worded differently and responses usually end as arguments. There are tons...
