Controlling the size of a photo/drawing

Is there any way to control the size of a picture being inserted.  Regardless of the size graphic I use,  sometimes it appears super large, other times teeny tiny.  I figured out the helpful tool to use of clicking the left arrow button to shift a graphic to the right side thus causing the picture to appear smaller, but I'm still up against the ropes with this one concern.  Thanks

I have only had the problem of images being very small. If this occurs, I will open on my computer screen, screenshot it, then paste it into Microsoft Paint, trim it, and post that (remembering to post original credits to the image of course). I'm not very good with photo editing, but this seems to work for me!

Thanks Pollyanna - I'll give it a shot.
