Gzip compression allows the server to compress site files when returning them to the browser, which reduces the size of files exchanged and, of course, shortens the time it takes to load a page. We all know page load time is crucial, because otherwise people will go elsewhere and also Google ranks us lower if the page loads slow. So do we participate in this? You may have to ask who hosts our site, or the server.
