I am writing original material about a topic that is very important, and very near and dear to my heart, but I don't have a lot of traffic. Will the traffic increase over time as I add original work to my hub pages? Is it gradual at first?
It can be gradual at first, depending on how you promote your hubs, but continually adding new content does not necessarily guarantee more traffic.
I don't like to promote, each time I post something in a forum people think I want to spam . So I stopped. Happily some people have spontaneously stumbleupon my hubs
.
I'm not specialist at all but since you don't seem to write about the last iPod your subjects may not be very fashionable. Still it's a very specialized theme so at term when people would search that subject you should be found.
But you must be patient (a few weeks to months), I'm a bit in the same case as you, I don't talk about very fashionable subject but some of my hubs do get a few of traffics from search engine. Question of probability, the more post you make, the more chance that you get something really liked by the search engine that nobody else has.
The forums are for discussion. You can include links to a hub in the context of a discussion, but just a posting a link, or a link and one sentence typically does not make for much of a discussion. Start the dialogue first, then bring on the links (as appropriate).
You HAVE to promote if you want traffic. Search the site, there are several excellent hubs on this...
Yeah, I know. My topics are not only fashionable, they are down right uncomfortabl and painful! Hopefully, the people who NEED this info will find it. It took me a LONG TIME to gather together this kind of info to help my family.

I just published my 50th hub and I wanted to know what other hubbers think about this topic. Once you have successfully published 50 hubs does that accomplishment help increase traffic to all of your published hubs, or create any other bonuses I am unaware of.
