Impressions Go Up - CPM Goes Down

Does the number of impressions affect CPM? I just noticed that after a large surge of impressions at the weekend, CPM dropped to its lowest value ever and hasn't  improved much since. Is this something to do with pages running out of bidders, so in the bidding system, those with the lowest bids win?

I have experienced the same phenomenon this month after there has been a surge in my impressions over the past two weeks.  Most of the impressions, however, are for only one of my hubs.

Unbelievably frustrating, the lowest for a while.  Seems like nothing we do, makes any difference.

Ok, I thought it was something I did and I "broke" something!

Bad as it might seem, I have a different opinion on such things. I feel that if you put my "stuff" where I am getting a lot of impressions, then shame on me for not having a Hub that takes advantage of this.
I fight so hard with my Blogs to get exposure that these increases are fantastic.
