    Hello!

Just a randomly random reminder that if you're not already - you SHOULD BE USING GOOGLE SUGGEST.

    What's that? Here's a picture.

    http://usercontent1.hubstatic.com/13318298.jpg

    Why should you use it?

    1. It's based on real searches. Unless people are regularly searching it, it won't show in the drop down.
    2. It contains stacks of longtail keywords that most fancy keyword tools can't find.
    3. Your entire title is basically written for you, right there!

Bonus reason: 80% of the content on one of my main content websites has been written using Google suggest research and I get 500,000 views/month because of that. It's worth your time!

Need help figuring out how to use it to best advantage and check the competition on a phrase? I have a hub on that wink

Thanks. I've been using it for a while. Didn't realize what it was called, though. smile

Yes, it's a great tool! I have noticed that, if you use private browsing, it gets even better, especially for related keywords.

Just go to Google and start typing, it tries to guess what you're typing as you type. This is google suggest. There's no special link.

As an author, could I use it to promote one of my books?

If you find questions where your book is the answer, or you can upsell to, then yes.

I usually recommend your Hub on Google Suggest when people want to know about getting traffic. Definitely worth using Google Suggest for keyphrases.

Honestly that is a great piece of info. I am literally going to do that now for my 2nd Hub. I'm using adwords  also which is handy for SEO.

Keep in mind that the Google Adwords keyword tool does NOT give you competition as a publisher. The competition bar is for paid adverts, not for organic results.

Great idea - quick question though. Does this change based on your own personal searches, or based on whether you are logged into Google+, gmail etc.?

Yes it can. But I'm lazy and ignore that, as I go for results that have absolutely no competition at all.

      Or you can use google.com/ncr

If you are choosing a title it is also worth looking at something that takes you from easy to rank for phrases to harder to rank for phrases.

So 'Best Scary Movies for Children with Monsters or Giants' has several phrases people might search for:

Best Scary Movies for Children with Monsters or Giants
Best Movies for Children with Monsters
Best Movies for Children with Giants
Scary Movies for Children with Monsters
    Movies for Children with Giants
    Movies for Children with Monsters
    Best Scary Movies for Children
    Scary Movies for Children
    Best Movies for Children
    Movies for Children
    Best Movies

It should be easy to get visitors to the top few phrases but there will not be many. The phrases further down the list are harder to rank for but you might get there after a year or two and pick up a ton of traffic.

I sort of see titles as a wedge that you drive into search engines. The tip gets you a few visitors and lets Google measure how visitors react to a page. The more the wedge penetrates, the more visitors you get.

Also remember, those drop down search suggestion boxes are all over the place. Amazon has an interesting one for anyone product orientated.

Be careful with "Google Suggest" - there is a suspicion that it is currently being manipulated by those with political agendas. It's not difficult.

So use your common sense and a pinch of salt and whatever else you use to make an informed choice and keep away the bogeymen when it comes to more contentious topics! smile
