Hi everyone. I cover many geeky topics, like Pokemon, Star Wars, all that fun stuff. Sometimes I wonder if readers would be better served by multiple accounts, one per topic, so that they can quickly find what they want without sifting through what they don't. Thoughts? Thanks!
As payout is per account, and your earnings have to reach $50 before you can be paid, it doesn't really make sense. Not many people will visit your hubs via your profile; they'll come via search traffic or links that you post on social media.
I have two accounts because of a site transfer that happened a while back. The other account does nothing much - I need to amalgamate them by moving hubs.
So, no, I don't advise it unless you are confident that you can make payout on both accounts.
Agreed, most traffic comes from search engines, not the profile.
Thanks for the input!
I think ou should not use multiple accounts; instead use multiple bios. A different bio for each subject.
You want to reach the $50 payout threshold as quickly as yu can. One account is the best way to do that. With multiple accounts, t will take longer to do that because the earningsw cannot be combined. (however, if your hubs get so many views that you can esily reah payout on all your accounts, then no problem.)
However, there is another issue: followers. Having followers on HP is useful. It takes time and effort to get followers. If you have 5 accounts, multiply the time and effort by 5.
Good point with the followers. Thanks for your input!
Catherine,
I would love to add a second bio, how do I go about doing this?
I've thought about a second account, but I didn't want the long lull between starting the account and actually making enough money to get paid. Since my current account is already paying monthly, it seems like a second bio is the best way to go! Great idea, thanks for the information!
Open the hub in edit mode. The top left corner of your screen should say, "THE HUBTOOL" right under the HubPages logo. Look on the right sidebar of your screen and click on "DISPLAY OPTIONS" which will pull up boxes for you to enter your new bio for that hub. When you are finished to your satisfaction, be sure to hit the "Save" button to keep the bio you've written for your hub.
use one account but put into different categories for your hubs
People are going to tell you it doesn't matter anymore because any decent Hubs you write are going to be moved to a niche site anyway. I agree with that to a certain extent. If you stick to "geeky topics" you're fine with everything on one account.
However, in some cases you may be trying to establish yourself as a credible expert in a certain topic area. Depending on the topic, I think there is still some value in having multiple accounts. For example, if you like Pokemon and Star Wars but you are also an expert on DIY home repair, you may wish to have your DIY stuff on another account.
Or if you are trying to establish yourself as the go-to Star Wars guy, you may want to put your Pokemon stuff elsewhere.
In my experience, people will visit your profile if you write in niche topics. If they are interested in the topics you write about they are going to want to check out what else you have to say, so you may wish to be aware of your audience and what they might think if you mix up your topics.
There is no right or wrong answer. It depends on the topics you write about and the image you wish to project.
Good tips. I've got some interest in biology and chemistry, if I every experiment with Hubs on them, perhaps I'll use a different account.
Thanks for your help!

Calling anyone who has considered having multiple accounts.I don't mean to do anything underhand with them.I've been learning to use HubPages by writing random product focussed hubs. I am now ready to do something a bit more meaningful. Off the top of my head I can think of 3 topics that I could...

I understand that you can use multiple accounts for google adsense, but when I make a new account, is there a way I can use my same email address? Would I just have to use a separate email for my new hub account, and use the same Google Adsense code?
