I have only written 5 and to be honest I really didn't try very hard on 4 of them.....all of them got featured though. This is with Hubpages finding them, not me sending them in. Do you think if this is something that I stuck with, I could eventually earn money?
Haha, I give your post the award for the most brutal honesty from a HP author I've ever heard in the regards to the not trying part.
It's great that your Hubs are featured, and a good start towards getting into AdSense. That said, even well-written Hubs can become unfeatured if they don't get enough traffic. Likewise, once in AdSense, traffic determines earnings.
To answer your question, you can earn money if you stick with it, but it'll probably be a few bucks a month, with a possibility to increase somewhat depending on views. Even then, it won't be enough to support oneself.
TL;DR, it supplements a job but definitely doesn't replace one.

I just logged into my account and noticed that I have close to 30 hubs that are unfeatured due to engagement? Why did this happen all of a sudden? Is there anything I can do to make them featured again?
