Since HubPages uses the AdSense API, there is never a need to place AdSense code in your Hubs. HubPages takes care of it for you.
You don't copy paste the HTML of adsense. Instead you enter your personal publishers code under 'affiliates' in your hubpages account settings. You can find that code in the right hand corder after you've logged into adsense.
