  yeah, to be honest, i was never really good at school either. in fact, the only class i excelled in was art, but i've never been a rembrandt or a da vinci though. however, i just do it for fun. I'm just going so i can try to find a better job soon.

  ahh..well, the energy crisis back in 78, i think it was, was an indirect consequence of our relations with the middle east at the time...most particularly Iran...which was quite different from what it is today. In order to solve the energy crisis situation, the US made a massive effort to limit the amount of fuel that was consumed...
  
  as for Carter's speech...it was earlier, before the crisis was a crisis in order to push for solar power and counter the dependence on fossil fuels...

  if I remember correctly, Iran was a major oil suppiler at the time (before we really knew the extent of Saudi's oil) and they went on a huge strike...i don't really know the events that led up to the strike or the major players.
  
  Capitalism?...honestly, I don't know...I know the United States was contributing to the total world's consumption (just as today) and as the demand went up during the 70's, so did the price. Capitalism was probably a contributer.

  basically, in moore's newest documentary, it showed jimmy carter giving out a public speech on tv, saying that we would have to ration gas. this was during the fuel crisis that we went through a while back. i was basically going to ask, if you can tell me why he made that speech and what events lead up to it.

  and as for reagan...I think he is responsible for a lot things...good and bad
  
  he destroyed our national debt and threw a lot of useless money in the Star Wars project (which failed), and in 87 or 88, the country hit a major recession, much like today
  
  but with that...the nation's economy grew stronger, and big businesses adapted into major corportions as they learned how to whether the storm..we beat the Russians out the arms race, which pretty much ended the cold war. we had a huge push on drugs and the AIDS epidemic (although, that came much too late in many critics eyes)...
  
  it's tough to gauge whether his presidency was a mess or a success...And I don't think he was a puppet...

  I honestly don't think any president is a puppet. however, i just found it kind of strange moore went over the bad history with republican presidents, but he conveniently skipped over carter, clinton and o'bama. i'm not biased by any means. as i said, im trying to research this as much as i can so i can give an unbiased review about his topics. anyway, thanks a lot for the information. it'll definitely help in my review. i hope someday to repay the favor.
