I was a writer elsewhere smile. I came to Hubpages after having been a full-time freelancer for a year, and am now at three years freelancing and two years with Hubpages. Previous to writing at all...I worked in the Pets department at Wal-Mart. Not exactly mentally stimulating.

I'm a software/systems engineer and ageing muso who has become despondent with being nearly 50 and unable to find work. I write because I have found a need for it and I find creating hubs mentally stimulating and challenging.

For 29 years now I have been a technician then a programmer and a trainer for Legacy PBX systems, Voice Mail Systems, Call Center Applications, VOIP, and all of the numerous ancillary devices that go with them.

First, before my high school graduation (1988), I auditioned as a local  drama talent on the radio (here in Bicol, Phillippines) and passed the test. Been on it for the last 10 years by becoming a news reporter then a program announcer or radio announcer. The payout was minimal but the job was fulfilling (I still liked it until now).

In 1999-2000, a merchandiser then a service crew in a Filipino-Chinese Fastfood/Restaurant (the name is Chowking).

In 2001, I tried my luck as a seafarer up to the present. Been there and that until...HubPages (2009 onwards).

Thanks for asking, wearing well.  Can you share your  job, too?

Thank you travel-man1971 for your reply; it's interesting reading about the backgrounds to our hubpage community:
I'll try to be brief :
    As a student;various part-time jobs (checkout at a supermarket/Little Chef waitress/Hair and Beauty Salon).
Qualified in Hair and Beauty Therapy 1989
Specialised in Therapy Treatments on board luxury cruise liners and worked for Steiners'of London maritime division.
Worked at a Natural Health Centre as a massage therapist and qualified in aromatherapy and as a practitioner in reflexology.Later, self-employed and worked on a part-time basis along side chiropractic doctors and also provided a visiting service for holistic therapys';whilst being a wife and mother to 3 children which has to be said is the most challenging job in the world:)Had to take time off work due to a back injury 2years ago and became a part time special teaching assistant.I've just recently been made redundant and enjoying spending more time here at hubpages reading and also finding it quite therapeutic creating articles:)
