The easiest way to gain traffic is have keyword rich articles. Something in depth, informative and original will do the trick. Try to avoid repeat content and focus on low competition areas that you are knowledgeable about. After a bit, if its interesting enough the traffic should come in.
Also, check out Hubs written by experienced webmasters. There are several excellent ones that will answer all of your questions!
Keywords are by far the most important factor. There are millions of views out there, just need the right keywords and info on the subject.
