I've been writing and publishing at Yahoo Associated Content since lng before it was a Yahoo venue. I enjoy the community there and have had some success. As here at HP, you get out of it what you put into it.
If you are willing to take time for it, then do it, but personally i recommend hubpages more. Also try cashcrate (cashcratenew.tk) you can make an easy $50 a month if you qualify for a survey..(I've qualified for 2 which takes like 20 minutes a day)
It's not opened to Ireland, so I can't submit, pretty annoyed by that.
My problem with Associated Content is that you cannot unpublish your work if you put it up as non-exclusive or exclusive. I just contacted them to close my account there and I have several pieces that while I retain the rights to--I cannot delete them from the site.
I was told by their admin. that they will be available online indefinitely. this isn't good news as I wanted to close them out over there and publish them here.
I don't like the platform - too many unnecessary things on the page is what it seems.
A great writing website for sure, however it doesn't make you feel as much a part of the community as it does on hubpages. On HP i find that there are much more ways to interact with other contributors.

Hi! I'm excited to be here!I'll be honest I currently have a deep, dark foggy cloud surrounding me........... as I learned today that Yahoo Voices is closing. I am devastated and honestly in a complete shock. I have over 1000 articles published on there.I will start writing my NEW content...

Read more...AC recently made a change to the payment system to writers outside of the US, ie: not paying us anymore. And $100 million? That would mean that HubPages is worth a billion dollars.

I just came across this news article:http://money.cnn.com/2010/05/18/technol … /index.htmThought I'd share since some of you write for AC.

I just signed up to yahoo contributors and found myself directed to associated content. They claim to pay upfront for articles. Anyone know whether it is worthwhile. I know sunforged, a very astute hubber wasn't impressed a while back before yahoo takeover.

Can I make Hubs from my non-exclusive Associated Content articles? It's my original content, but...I didn't know if this counted as duplicate content.
