    Yes you can make money without adsense or any other advertising network. In Hubpages however you will need an adsense account. But most of my earnings comes from the Hubpages ad program where the payment is done smoothly via adsense.

    But if you are having problem there are many sites which pays directly without any affiliate account. Go to my profile and look for the latest articles where I have described about the all legit site where you could make money without any hassle of Google adsense.
    I am sure those list of sites gonna help you.

    Actually part of tnvrstar's answer is wrong.  Payment for the HubPages ad program is not made via AdSense, payments are made via PayPal. 

    You will need an AdSense account in order to participate in the HubPages Ad Program because the system they invented compares bids between competing AdSense and in-house ads and then serves the ones with the higher bids.

    Thank both of you for answering. When I went to sign up for adsense, somewhere I ran into the part that said one of the reasons people get turned down was having a presence at the site for less than 6 months. But from what I've read, many people here signed up after they'd written as few as 5 hubs and been approved.
    I've also found encouragement from some answers to silmilarly-worded questions, some saying that if you aren't approved the first time just keep trying every time you write a few more hubs and eventually you'll get approved.  I've decided to go that route.
