Why does updating old Hubs increase traffic?
Is there a scientific or SEO explanation why updating old Hubs would cause an increase in traffic to the Hub?
Yes, Google likes either fresh web pages, or aged web pages.
If you freshen up an aged web page -then that's a win win situation.
So brand new material and older material are what Google likes. The Google web crawler bots are constantly crawling the web, and they re crawl old pages, and when they see that the page has changed, then it recognizes that as "fresh content" even if it's an older url, and the page hasn't changed too much.
I find old things that need improving - just a bit ago I found a product hub of mine that I'd not added an ebay capsule to, so I added one. There WILL be a spike in traffic from that.
It brings in the hub into recent activity and light. There the updated hub is visible on the net and attracts the traffic
