What is a good free image editing program?
Can you recommend a good, eay to learn, and free image/photo image editing program that is easier to learn than photoshop or Illustrator?
Hi GA Anderson. I use GIMP. There is a free version that is really very good. There are still parts of it that I don't understand, but I don't edit my photos very much. I almost always use the auto white balance and the unsharp mask to sharpen my picutres just a little. (I know, the "unsharp" mask sounds just backwards.)
There are many tutorials on GIMP on the internet that you can use to help you. I may use it to crop some of my photos also. I hope you find this information useful. Have a happy Valentine's Day!
Gimp is the one I use. I wouldn't say it's easier than Photoshop or Illustrator, but it is free and available for anyone to download.
I've been using paint.NET for many years, and it's awesome. Rated "spectacular" on CNET. Here's the page: http://download.cnet.com/Paint-NET/3000 … 38146.html
Paint.net is only for microsoft platforms but GIMP works in linux & microsoft. Paint Shop Pro is not free but has math functions but can get MathMap as a GIMP plug-in.
In Paint Shop pro - can record your manipulation and save it as a script to do it again.
Link below is a step by step how to for paint shop pro. Suggest you download an OLDER version of PSP because the newer version adds a service in you registry that can't be deleted.
PSPXI installs protexis drm spyware that hangs system. START>PROGRAMS>ADMINSTRATIVE TOOLS>SERVICES - stopped service & changed from Automatic to Disabled and then edited register to remove Hkey_Current_User, under 'Protexis, plus deleted PISIService.exe and PSIkey.dll and it was still AFU!

First of all don't forget as limited as it is, if you're using windows you have the Free Paint app, which can do allot of things from adding borders, text, touch up, erase, etc.
Also if you have any of the free MS Works from 5 forward which tend to come bundled with PCs and Laptops, they have versions of Publisher within them which are quite good.
Then I agree that Gimp is quite good and I use as well but if you open a Free Photo Bucket On line acct. it now comes with a very nice and user friendly editing app.
Finally, Windows 7 comes bundled with the Snipping tool which can be very helpful in capturing just portions of pics or photos you want and it even has limited editing capabilities.
I hope this helps.

I have been advising people to use the free text editor, Picmonkey.com, for years. Today I went on the site to rework a photo, and after I did, the site would not allow me to down load it. Seems they now want everybody to pay a fee for use. Anybody else having this problem? ...
