I have many hubs, a lot did not have images on them, so my profile picture shows as a thumbnail instead.
I have just added a picture to one of my older hubs, but it is still showing as my profile picture when it is a thumbnail.
Can I get that "fixed", or am I stuck with it?
Will it just update/automatically later, or is it a cache issue just for me?
Since you don't say which Hub is having this problem, it's either that the image you added isn't large enough to replace your avatar as the defining image, or you need to just wait a bit longer for the system to update itself to reflect the new image.
Ah, it is this one.

It should be some garlic showing as the thumbnail.
I don't know why this works, but it does for me--try right clicking on the image and saving it to your computer, then reload the image to your hub from your hard drive.

I'd like to know if the main image you use on your hubs affects either ranking or traffic. I know the thumbnail plays a huge role in YouTube videos but what about our hubs? Does it matter?

I just shared my latest recipe hub on 'my space' and the thumbnail that showed up beside my recipe hub title was from another person's hub. I was so shocked that I took it down right away. How do you figure that...
